This was my second time eating at this Chilli's in Barstow. Second time eating at a Chilli's in about five years. So it's not the first restaurant choice that comes to mind when we're away from home. We usually eat at small, mom and pop, locally owned places. Chilli's is not one of those. What we liked: Our primary server was great. He checked on us several times as we waited for our food. The back up person who plopped our order of chips and salsa in the middle of our table and walked away without speaking was not so good. The adequate: The food (sorry, no pics. Lots of pics out there already) was okay. Keeping in mind that the restaurant's name is "Chilli's" the food was spicy. The chicken cheese tortilla soup was a little spicy. Tasted good. However, the salad, chicken tortilla salad with a one tablespoon scoop of guacamole on top was uncomfortably spicy. We eat weekly from local southern California (Baja-style) taco shops. I like spicy. But I needed a side of sour cream to counteract the large amount of chili powder sprinkled all over the salad. The Not-So Good: The atmosphere is that of a sport's bar. So fairly loud. The hostess tried to seat us in the bar. We asked to not sit in the bar. She put us at small table, right on the edge of the bar. I understand that staffing at mimimum wage jobs, like food service, is a challenge for employers. But finding good employees at these kinds of job is nothing new. We chose this restaurant because it was late on a week night and they were open. Would I go...
Read more-100 stars if I could!! First the hostess didn't even take us to our table, she gave my daughter the menus and told us to pick a booth from the selected area. We get to the table it was dirty. We waited another 5-7 mins for someone to clean it off. Waitress was very lackluster, paid more attention to a table full of men then a family of four. She kept lying saying the food would be out shortly every time we stopped her to ask. Finally after getting our food my steak was overcooked and I waved her down yet again to tell her I would like a recook and she said ok and walked off without taking the plate back with her. At that point I requested the manager from the waitress, waited 10 mins and nothing, I asked the bartender for the same manager, waited another 10 mins and nothing, I then ask the hostess and on the mic I hear the manager say she was in the back helping food get out & she would be there when she could. After another 10 min she finally comes out with an attitude asking what happened. I told her I no longer wanted my food and requested it be taken off the bill & how costumer service lacked majorly & her response was that we didn't have to pay for anything. No apology or anything !! My daughter asked for her burger and she grabbed a box for her. I took all the food left on the table and we left. We'll never return unless NEW MANAGEMENT & EMPLOYEES work there and hopefully treat their costumers with...
Read moreTraveling through Barstow, checking into a hotel and walking across the street, my wife and I wanted to eat. We went to Chilies as it was close. Our server, Sam, was very attentive and pleasant. We both ordered the “special” margarita with our dinner. Upon requesting another round with an accompanying shot(s) of tequila. The manager came over with two shots and informed us, in a very hostile manner we could not have our requested drinks as under CA State law we could not have cocktails with more than one shot in it. I informed her there was no such ABC regulation. Then she really got hostile and started an argument over this point of law. So, we ate our dinner which was sufficient, order a double Scotch on the rocks which was not consumed. The woman who is the manager of this establishment needs training in customer interaction, anger management and just general manners. If it were not for our great server, Sam, the entire experience would have terrible. I can only surmise that the manager represents the corporate standard in management training... so we will make it a point to avoid any further interaction with Chilies. There are too many other restaurants with professional staff who are focused on customer service, not dogmatic demands imposed upon the paying public by making up supposed laws and...
