Wife and I were coming back from Vegas (don't ask) and stopped here because we wanted some fast food before continuing our trip. Before I get to the review, take a walk with me down memory lane. My brother worked at a McDonald's when he was in high school. At that time, the only difference between these restaurants was the staff. When you went to get a burger, the restaurant products were all the same, from Kingman AZ to Philly. Now back to the present. First thing I noticed was how sad the place looked. It was clean. It had the same red/orange/yellow color scheme as 50 years ago but there was no "Welcome to McDonald's " greeting from the staff. In fact, there was very little staff at all. One guy was working the ONE window and he was carrying trays to the people sitting at tables. The wide open view into the machinery at the back had been bricked up. Another innovation was the menu had been moved to electronic kiosks, probably to cut staff. The advantage here was that they could display the product before you ordered. You want fries? Three pictures showed the three sizes and you could choose. Somehow it was like ordering from Amazon. Add it to your cart and continue shopping. Maybe it is just me, but I miss the clerk trying to upsell me to a bigger whatever. So, wife and I picked what we wanted and went to pay. Of course, being dinosaurs, we wanted to pay with cash (I can just hear the "OK, boomer " shouts from the readers). Lo and behold, there was a pay with cash option. We pushed it and waited. The one guy kept bringing out orders in bags or trays but never called our number. Wife went to the toilet (of course you have to ask for the code) and came back. Still no joy. Finally we saw a guy who had come in after us get his order, we asked. The counter guy told us our total was X and only then did the order get submitted. So, another 10 minute wait and our order came. While picking it up, I asked for ketchup. How many? Three. He counted out three. Then I asked for straws. He gave me one (I ordered a vanilla milk shake and wife ordered milk). I asked for another and he looked at both drinks before he gave me another. Then the wife asked for napkins (women!). They should be in the bag, he said. We took the food and got back on the road. The quarter-pounders were as advertised. The fries were magnificent, as expected. I was surprised that the milkshake machine was working. However, I got it and found out how different it was. Previously, you got a cup filled with the vanilla sludge. Now itreminded me of a beer at Oktoberfest: half beer and half foam. Here it was half vanilla sludge and half whipped cream. NOT what I expected. As a last disappointment, there were no napkins in the bag. I cannot say I was surprised.
The pics show the3rd McDonald's store number and the kiosks. I figure everyone knows what the food looks like.
It has been several years since we had visited a McDonald's and, after this experience, it will be several years before we go back.
Google won't let put zero stars so you can guess what...
Read moreDissatisfaction with the Order at McDonald's located at 2571 Commerce pkwy, Barstow, CA 92311. Recently, I had a disappointing experience at one of the McDonald's restaurants. Being a frequent traveler, I have visited various McDonald's locations throughout the country, but this particular visit left me quite dissatisfied. On this occasion, I ordered a double cheeseburger, expecting a fulfilling and satisfying meal. However, to my disappointment, I received a regular cheeseburger instead. This came as a surprise and made me feel somewhat cheated, especially given the higher price I had paid for what should have been a more substantial meal. As a customer who constantly seeks value for money, I found this experience to be quite frustrating. I have come to expect consistency and quality from McDonald's, as they are known for their efficiency and standardization across their chain of restaurants. This incident left me questioning the reliability of their service. It is vital for fast-food chains like McDonald's to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Mistakes can happen, but it is essential for the employees to pay attention to the orders and deliver them accurately. In this case, it felt as if the staff members were simply going through the motions without considering the specific customer requests. As a traveler, I have had the opportunity to visit McDonald's in different countries, and I must say that this experience was a letdown, particularly considering the reputation and popularity of the brand. It is disheartening to have such a negative encounter, especially when seeking familiarity and consistency while on the road. I hope that this review will serve as constructive feedback for McDonald's to improve their quality control and customer service. I have always held McDonald's in high regard, and I genuinely believe that they have the capacity to rectify and prevent such incidents from happening in the future. Overall, my experience at this particular McDonald's location was disheartening, as I received the wrong order, resulting in an overpriced regular cheeseburger instead of the double cheeseburger I had intended to purchase. I sincerely hope that measures will be taken to ensure that such incidents are minimized, providing customers with the expected level of satisfaction. Read moreTLDR fresh food fast service very polite and friendly server.
You don't expect much from a Mc Donald's. I mean really. It's generally consistent pretty much the same across the board. Usually good rarely great occasionally bad.
This place tho. Yeah this place was a surprise for the wife and I. It's tucked away on trucker side of I15 not near the outlets. Used drive thru, disembodied voice on other end was pleasant polite nice. Dude repeated order asked a couple qualifying questions cause special order.... Wife..... Got to window food came out fast dude was still polite and friendly.
Pulled into parking lot and grubbed. Two egg mcmuffins no damn cheese and a hash brown. The mcmuffins were awesome. The muffin was actually toasted I mean toasted not just ran by some heat. The eggs were hot and round. The patty was hot. The hash brown was crispy not to greasy.
Wife and I were pleased. I am sure it had nothing to do with being in the car for the past six hours driving. Nothing to do with me thinking how tasty the gear shifter would taste. Wondering if i was biting off more than I could chew thinking I could eat the gear shifter with out crashing. Nope. My hunger delusions had nothing to do with how good the food was. It really was good.
Always avoided that McD cause it's in the back looked to be a pain to get to. It wasn't and I was dumb for waiting. It'll be a place to stop...
