Edit: well, once my husband got home I made him immediately take everything back to the restaurant. I opened the plastic bag to find that the box the salad was in was covered in some sort of sticky/lint like substance along all the edges of the box. I’m so disgusted that someone put food in this box and thought that was acceptable at all but especially when the salad was $7! This makes me concerned about the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and we absolutely will not be returning. This is why small businesses don’t survive here or elsewhere. You will never convince me the person who put this salad in this box did not notice it looked this way when putting the salad in it. To have no clue what that substance is and serve it to a customer that way expecting them to eat it is wild.
I really want to love Lollipops and spend my money there as I was very excited to have a wood fired pizza place in Bartlesville when they opened. But I can’t get past the service or lack of.
I went with friends a couple weeks ago and ordered a pizza and salad. I requested a side of Alfredo (that I was more than happy to pay for) and was told “there is no button for that” and told me it was not possible. I said “ok, that’s fine then I guess”. If there is no button to ring it in, fair enough but I can’t imagine I am the first to ever request that. Just charge me $2 or what ever is a fair price or better yet, offer it as a courtesy so the customer can have what they want.
While I was there that night, I saw they offer a buy 2 get 1 free pizza night on Thursdays. As a busy family of 7, I thought it would be a good deal for us and a way to support this local business instead of another chain.
Tonight happened to be a busy night and I suggested the pizza deal to my husband since it was fresh on my mind. We placed our order and requested chicken and roasted garlic added to one of the pizzas and he was told they don’t do additions for the deal, he said he was more than happy to pay for the additions made and she said they would do it this time but not in the future.
Again, we are more than happy to pay for additions or sides we’ve requested. But as a customer, not being able to get what I want despite being willing to pay for it, is frustrating. I want to support local business so they can stay in town. I would rather give my money to someone local than another pizza chain or driving to Pawhuska for wood fired pizza. But I am not willing to spend the money to get something I do not want or can’t have.
Please consider this perspective so families like mine can continue to come back and spend money. I don’t know many people who prefer pizza with no form of meat/protein. I am having a hard time understanding what the big deal is to add an extra topping if the customer will pay for it, regardless of the deal or not. Every other place I’ve ever been that offers a deal just makes it known that there will be an upcharge if you have any...
Read moreWe settled in at a table with a view of the wood fired oven. It was interesting to watch the dough being stretched by hand, loaded with toppings then slid into the oven. You could see the wood burning and watch the attentive cook as he worked the pizzas with the long-handled peel. Moving the disks from front to back, side to side, and an occasional spin for consistency to complete the perfection. This is a skill requiring the eye of an artisan and experience.
Lollipops Woodfire & Grocery occupies a beautifully restored old building. I love these kinds of places. The restaurant is dimly lit, creating a cooling, shadowy ambiance. Comfortable tables, chairs and booths are available. Modern attractive fixtures and finishes are used throughout; without destroying the old buildings interior character. Enough “old “has been left in the building to preserve its feeling.
When you walk in it is a little confusing to figure out where to order. What looks to be a counter is directly in front of the door. That ain’t it. Step to the right of it and keep walking. It is on the righthand side of the dining area about mid-way inside the building. Grab a menu and scroll through the selection of designer pizzas, salads and sandwiches until you connect with a combination that resonates with your palate. Order, have a seat, food is coming out soon.
The Fusion for me and a massive bowl of Cobb Salad for my wife. (check the pictures, check the menu) The pizza was perfection. A designer pizza toasted up in a wood fired oven by a skilled cook. The fresh Cobb Salad was of equal quality and delivered deliciousness.
I left Lollipops Woodfire & Grocery with a very favorable impression of the restaurant. Excellent.
Oh Lollipops! The restaurant’s namesake! Every customer gets one. They are at the counter. Don’t leave without one of these sweet little disks. Sugary works of...
Read moreIt's been really hard to find food in Bartlesville that is truly good every time. I'm always a bit confused when folks I work with from out of town rave about any food here. I mean - we have Painted Horse and it's certainly not bad, but not consistent and after eating off that menu for 4 years, I'm so damn bored. When Lollipops opened, I expected more of the typical Bartlesville B.S. fanfare: "Hey! Like us because we opened, not because it's actually good food!" So, 3 months after they opened, I finally went in. If I didn't already love the drinks at Palace, I honestly wouldn't have bothered. But. Damn. I've been back 4 times this week. I cannot stay away - the pizza/Flatbread is absolutely delicious...fresh (really fresh) ingredients, love that the flour is imported and is healthier. The oven is an ideal centerpiece and is so much fun to watch in action. And, like the Palace, the decor is stunning. There's so much to look at, the visual interest is perfect for mu ADHD brain. It's really pretty. My one & only complaint is that no one comes by to offer refills of any type - not even for ice water. Their POS asks for tips at a pick up window, and this is not a cheap meal by any stretch (no hate - but let's provide value across the board), so when a tip is given up front, the expectation is that there will be a better level of service. Not a huge deal - I've now learned to adjust that tip down accordingly, and hope the owners are paying their staff a livable wage. This is not enough to keep one away, but IF a tweak were made, it would make it a dang near perfect experience. And we need more good experiences...
