Tacos Maria is kind of a fast-food authentic taco joint. Dine in or to-go, drive thru pick up window. Inside, order at the counter, a very limited menu. Average Mexican food.
We had the Tamales, Pollo Loco, and chips and salsa (you have to order ‘em to get ‘em). On the salsa, I ordered the hot. Decent and needed for the meals. The tamales were fair, good tasting from the green sauce inside and not an overload of masa on the outside. The filling was very skimpy on the chicken. My wife wanted pork, but they were out. My Pollo Loco was weird, coarse ground, grilled chicken, floated on queso. Despite its appearance, the chicken was well seasoned and tasted good with the queso. Beans resembling canned and rice on the side. Some have reported that the food is the closest that they have found to California Mexican food. While other reviewers in strong disagreement, love the restaurant and have posted pictures of appetizing looking meals. The restaurant is clean and not a typical OkieMex, run down hole in the wall establishment. Frankly, the food is just 3 star OK. But here is the rub, for $27, I am very certain you can find better Mexican food in Bartlesville, with table service and complementary...
Read moreFalse advertising on my end. "Street Tacos" should be renamed to "Street Taco", if you're going to charge $3+ for one taco. This restaurant used to charge $1.50 for 3 street tacos, but no more!
In regard to the "corn in a cup", Tacos Maria have previously posted numerous photos of their elote on Facebook, but the portions are NOTHING alike. For the price of $5, you can get a cup the size of a small Wendy's frost! Ridiculous.
Not only that, the amount of liquid in the Elote should not exist. The amount of corn I received also overpowered the rest of the ingredients, so I couldn't even enjoy it. Every bite was a spoonful of liquid corn.
I paid $30 for my order and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. For sure trying another local place in...
Read moreNew (to me) Mexican place in Bartlesville, and what a great addition! Was in town for 3 days and made a point to go twice. Had a sampling of the various Street Tacos and one Supreme. All were excellent! The Rice and Bean sides were great and plentiful with a take out order. The fare is of the "authentic Mexican" bent as opposed to TexMex, so take that into account depending on your appetite that day. They were a week away from getting their liquor license, so no review on the Margarita's, but will add that when I get back. Guess it is the storefront evolution of a popular food truck in the area. Met Maria working the front of the store. All the servers were pleasant, knowledgeable and as enthusiastic about the restaurant...
