I love to read the low rating reviews for everything. They often offer insight into the actual product, the management of the establishment, or the consumer writing the review. They often make me giggle. Similar patterns across all reviews for products and services. So here we are and here we go. This is how my more than half a century old brain thinks about Exlines’ Pizza, particularly Bartlett in this case.
The real reason I am writing this review is so Jennifer can get an extra $5 on her paycheck. Most folks don’t realize that most wait staff only make about $2 per hour and count on tips to pay their bills. I also realize the profit margin is slim in the restaurant industry. This has not changed since I waited tables in the 80’s. Put the two together. Exlines has their wait staff handing out cards to promote reviews, good or bad. This tells me the management cares about our experience and wants to be able to pinpoint performance. I believe they value us as a customer.
As a human, sometimes I have a bad day. Sometimes stuff happens. Sometimes I work with a brainless worthless slug. I try hard to bring myself and others up and do my best in life, but sometimes Murphy wins. Exlines is no different. They have been around a long time, longer than many others. That says something.
I have always loved Exlines’ Pizza, as well as many other local places. Sometimes they have an off day just like every other place including my kitchen. The good far, far outweighs the bad. When and if that scale tips, I’ll let you know. I say you go and get you some. Odds are you will be very...
Read moreSo here is the deal about Exlines in case you don't already know. Long time Memphians already know Exlines has the best pizza in town. Like no other, loved for their uniqueness, kinda like that old friend of yours. I realized something else while at the Bartlett location the other night. Exlines Bartlett also has the coldest beer in town too! Who knew! What a great combination! Enough about the great food. I want to describe what I saw one of the servers do. Jennifer flawlessly handled what any server may consider to be the worst nightmare scenario, a party of about 30 people with separate checks. It so happens that a group of Bartlett High School graduates of the Class of 1897 were out for a good time. I was not a member of the graduates, however I was pleasantly surprised to see that neither Jennifer or anyone else had to call the cops on this group of age 55ish folks, maybe because the graduates were very well behaved,... tonight. Jennifer, along with the kitchen staff, all the other servers and the house manager, (the whole Exlines Team) went out of their way to be sure all customers enjoyed the best pizza in town, with an ice cold beer if they chose. I suggest you gather up a group of your own and go to Exlines Bartlett see what all the buzz is about for yourselves. Tell them the Kingsbury Class of '87 Rocks and we sent you. You will be happy...
Read morecalled and ordered a pepperoni pizza and a pepperoni and jalapeno pizza, was told it would be ready in 30 to 40 minutes, got there to pick it up and was told they were running behind and it would be 20 more minutes. They showed me the pizzas and and the one i ordered with jalapenos was wrong, it was cooked with pepperoncini peppers and not jalepenos . i told them this was wrong and the asked the cook for a cup of jalepenos. i asked them to cook it again because the flavor would be different. The lady behind the counter HUFFED and said REALLY? so i waited for another 30 minutes for the new pizza to be cooked. i got home and now the first pizza was cold, The pizza with jalepenos was only done on the edges and the middle of the pizza was way under cooked. consequently it made me sick to my stomach, I have been a loyal customer since there was only one restaurant in Raleigh when Walt Exline(owner) cooked for my softball team is the early 80's , i called the manager and asked for a refund and again the lady huffed and said that they could offer me another pizza but no refund. I know for sure Walt would not have treated any customer like this. He would remember us as a lot of the MPD officers frequented the Raleigh store often. WHAT HAS HAPPENED WALT? UNFORTUNATELY IM NOT SURE I WILL EAT HERE AGAIN.
THE BARTLETT STORE NEEDS AND ENEMA AND...
