First let me say that in no way I am associated with the restaurant I'm about to review. Pier 64 (formally red hooks). Went there for the first time this evening. You walk in greeted by a very friendly Hostess: Yanna. The atmosphere is very inviting and very clean. Once seated was greeted by one if the nicest Servers: Sayuri. She was very knowledgeable of the menu. Appetizer had the oyster Rockefeller the best I've ever had. Back to the transformation for a second so you don't get confused. The former red hooks is a thing of the past. The New Pier 64 is in my opinion 5 star. While pondering over the menu and talking to the server Sayuri I ask is the chef good, she said he is the best. She said would you like to meet him. Me being me I said yes, in the back of my mind thinking here comes some cook calling himself a chef. Let me tell you when Chef Nak (or Chan) he goes by both names. When came over to the table i knew I was wrong. He is truly a chef with over 30 years of preparing masterpieces. How often do you get your chef to come out and explain his creations. I have a few pictures I will post, I apologize tried so many great dishes I forgot to take pictures of some. The attention I was drawing to the table the owner (Roy) came over. When tell you a very classy owner he is that. I could keep writing about the New Pier 64, but I'm not trying to write a novel. Here's what I'm saying forget what you heard or thought about the old place which I won't say there name again. The Newly opened Pier 64 is just what the area needed. When I say class act and will be the hottest eating establishment in the mid-south I mean that. Please if you love seafood boil or seafood in general you have to give them a change. Please support my new friends Roy, Chef Nak, Sayuri and Yanna and the New Pier 64. In the photos this Chef Nak and Server Sayuri. Sorry I didn't post more pictures of my food but I started eating before I...
Read moreThis was for my husband's father's day celebration. The decor was cute. The service was horrible. The waitress took our order and apparently forgot to put my son's order in so everyone's food made it but his. We waited a little while to inquire thinking it would come any minute. After I asked, she basically realized she had not put it in, because she didn't even realize everyone had food but him🤔😒. But that's okay because his grilled chicken po-boy was nothing but gristle so he didn't even eat it. The raw oysters with chef's special sauce had no fish or seafood taste to them at all. They were horrible. The oysters with crab meat on them literally had no fish or seafood taste to them at all. They were horrible. The crawfish was boiled but even with the seasoning that was on there, there was no taste. It was bland. My husband said with the dungeness crab he's had better and he will definitely not be back. I got to try some of his and I noticed that it was basically freezer burned. Overall it was ridiculous and we will not be back. They are definitely overpriced for the ridiculous quality you receive. If you want seafood, go to...
Read moreGreat atmosphere and good service, but the food we had was just ok. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta with Cajun cream sauce, and a side of two boiled eggs with medium spicy Pier 64 special sauce on the side, just so I could see if the sauce would be good. The pasta was just ok because it lacked flavor; I couldn't taste anything Cajun about it and the chicken was definitely not blackened. The one slice of toasted bread served with it only had butter, no seasoning. The server had to go back and get my eggs because they were forgotten by the young man that brought our other dishes. The eggs were well over cooked with green-ringed yolks. The sauce was on point though, and I ended up adding some of that to the pasta which made it delicious.
Hubby got the weekend special with shrimp, lobster and snow crab legs. He said the shrimp were ok but the lobster and legs were overcooked, which made the dish not worth the money even though portion size was good. He also loved the medium spicy Pier 64 sauce.
FYI: You pay for your meal at the counter on the way out, not with...
