Eh…. Not feeling the location of Fleming’s. I’ve been to a few other Fleming’s in other cities but this one missed the mark. I took a good friend of mine to this Fleming’s for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday night. I made a reservation thru Open Table and explicitly mentioned a birthday dinner. My friend uses a walker to walk and so we traveled to the restaurant and I drop him off and park. I walk up to the hostess stand and she is playing with her phone. The restaurant is not even half full but there appears to be some sort of meeting dinner going on. So my friend and I follow the hostess to the table and she seems completely disinterested. We’re both males in our 60s and nicely dressed and ready to have some delicious steaks. She brings us to the table and my friend has a bit of trouble navigating to the chair because of other chairs from other tables blocking the way. I ask the hostess to please help him get to his seat but she does nothing and looks down. I ask her again would you please help him move the chairs please? She ignores me and sets the menus down and runs away. Very off putting and gave off a very unwelcome vibe.
The waiter comes 10 minutes later after we get seated and seems uninterested in working tonight and we still are put off by the hostess’s unwillingness to help us to our table. I’m not in the mood for drinks or wine so we just order water and my friend a coke. Another 15 minutes goes by before the water and small piece of bread arrives. The momentum of the waiters seems to be with the other dinner meeting and basically ignores our table and they seem understaffed that night. Finally the waiter shows up again, he still seems uninterested and low energy but we order starters and mains. It’s another 25 minutes before starters appear and then another 35 minutes before the steaks appear.
Steaks and starters weee very good. Service was poor and unacceptable for this level of upscale steakhouse. I call the manager over and explain the issues which she apologies profusely and promises to speak to the hostess and rest of the staff.
Again, the restaurant empties out and there are only 3 or 4 tables with any one. We leave and there is a new hostess who helps with the first door abut not the second door with my friend. Just terrible how these hostess are treating guests. We spent about $200 and passed on wine and dessert. Snot sure if we’d...
Read moreFor an upscale steakhouse that promises a fine dining experience, Fleming’s unfortunately fell short of its own standards. My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary, drawn in by its reputation for excellence. While there were glimpses of what could have been a memorable evening, missteps at every turn made it an overall disappointing experience.
To start, the restaurant graciously acknowledged our occasion with a rose—a lovely gesture, except for the fact that the rose had black, decaying spots. An omen of what was to come? Perhaps. Our table placement was less than ideal, sandwiched between two large parties in a way that left us feeling like afterthoughts. Throughout the night, servers repeatedly bumped into my chair, while the guest at the neighboring table kept knocking into my husband’s. It made for an uncomfortable, cramped dining experience.
The service itself was inconsistent at best. A dirty bread plate was placed in front of me, and though we pointed it out, a replacement never arrived. The main course should have been the highlight, but it was another letdown. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium, but my husband’s $72 steak—ordered medium—arrived bloody. When we sent it back, hoping for a correction, it came back completely well-done, a careless overcorrection that erased any hope of enjoying a quality cut of meat.
As the meal wrapped up, we were eager to at least enjoy a sweet ending, but our waiter vanished for 30 minutes just as we were trying to order dessert. By that point, the frustration had set in, and we decided to leave without it even though we were told it would be complementary.
For a restaurant that prides itself on top-tier service, Fleming’s simply didn’t deliver. The potential is there, but execution matters, and on this night, the details—big and...
Read moreThe current management has no decorum. A year ago we had an issue with the female manager at this Baton Rouge location. A chef came from the back to continue the issue so we left. Now that aforementioned chef is a manager as well. We recently went to eat there it's was the most uncomfortable feeling for us in a place we used to frequent 2 or 3 times a month. Both managers have colluded to mess with our food in some way. When our filets came up both aforementioned managers were there to plate them. (Our waiter standing there in disbelief looked away and shook his head in disbelief/disappoint ment as they handled our food. When the food was brought by the waiter that rolled her eyes at us for no reason the steaks looked tampered with and the mashed potatoes looked old and cold like they were sitting for a while. They didn't handle anyone else's food but ours mind you these are both the lady and gentleman we had an issue with. The MOST DISTURBING FACT is when we refused to eat the food. NEITHER MANAGER came to our table to ask us what happened, did we want it boxed, is everything ok, offer an apology for anything that wasn't to our liking, no visit at all what so ever. It's as if we didn't exist until our food came out then after we refused they removed the items from the check and we left. We will not eat there unless those managers aren't the managers anymore. If it's not fresh faces in there we just can't run the risk of someone playing with our food. Hopefully this...
