I regularly love to eat out and enjoy a fine dining experience. Well this Sunday, my family and I went to Juban's for the 1st time, and the food was awful! The good reviews must be written by family members because that food was worse than Piccadilly! The only bright spot was our beverage waitress, Victoriaa, who ended up acting as our server for the evening. I should have realized when the parking lot was empty for Sunday dinner service, that's a red flag.🚩🚩🚩My mom said she's had a better filet at Roadhouse, and her runny gumbo tasted like gravy. My sister's stuffing in her fried soft shell crab tasted like frozen shrimp was used. She barely had Romain lettuce in her Ceasar salad which was underwhelming. My cauliflower soup was just okay, but my redfish tasted like hospital food. Not to mention the side items were lukewarm to cold and flavorless. Keep this in mind, when a fine dining restaurant garnishes their food/plates with slices Lemons, that's a big 🚩. LOL! So, they had a Wagyu burger on the menu, and I love to try burgers at different restaurants, and I ordered one to go at the beginning of our order. I should have looked before leaving. 😳 This place is a joke! Please do not waste your time or money to ever eat there! By the way, they took off my meal just by me jokingly letting the server know I'll bring my fish home to doctor it up. And they gave us a complimentary dish of blue cotton candy....why??? 🤪, and a to go order of the densest bread pudding you could ever eat. Stab's Prime Steak and Seafood and Sullivan's Steakhouse are the only fine dining restaurants in B.R. that have a great menu and consistently excellent food. P.S. I never asked to speak to a manager because I figure "lesson learned", and move on, but I was told by John that the manager would come a talk to me, I guess because they removed the cost of my meal without me even asking, and the manager never showed up at the table before we left. LOL! 😂 I really think they all know how bad the food is at...
Read moreTook my dad here for Father's Day 2022 and I got food poisoning. We are pretty sure it was the redfish which was topped with crab. The crab tasted very poor, came out cold, and even looked grey-ish. The redfish was dry as could be - well overdone. I ended up going to the hospital because it was some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. The soup came out cold, and the blue cheese topping on her steak was not melted. Overall, dinner was $250 and the hospital bill was $600. For $850 I do not recommend this experience.
Another note - I had a reservation for 6:30pm and we didn't get seated until closer to 7. We went to the bar to pass the time... Other restaurants will offer to buy your party a drink if they can't seat you at your reservation time (especially when there is no waiting space and its 100 degrees outside). What's worse, none of the 3 hostesses acknowledged us when we walked up to the stand. Just talking to each other for a minute or two. I had to interject to let them know I have a reservation? For these prices, I do fully expect to be seated at my reservation time and to be greeted when I walk in, or at least told "hi, give us a moment please".
Finally, there is a 2-waiter system. One for food and one for drinks. Eventually the food waiter just starts taking drink orders, and doesn't communicate with the drink waiter. This causes confusion - we already ordered a second round of drinks from the food waiter who suggested another round to us. Then the drink waiter comes by a minute later to ask if we want another round - "No thanks, we just ordered it from the other guy". Really odd and didn't seem to work well.
Jubans it not what it used to be. It looks nicer inside, but clearly the food quality and service are extremely lacking. Also saw a cook walking back into the building after smoking weed in his car (it stunk)...maybe I wouldn't have gotten food poisoning if he wasn't smoking at work? Extremely...
Read moreWe have recently gone back to Juban’s twice. Once for brunch, which was very lack luster. We sat in the “Tiger” library room… it was filthy; very dusty, shelving was in disarray and overall unkempt. There was a large party that needed tables rearranged to accommodate the number of people. Staff was hurriedly trying to arrange tables, they were loud, rude to the guests and each other. Our servicer was absent a great deal. When I asked the woman at the front she responded “I don’t know… she probably went to the back”. Very rude!
The second trip back there were 10 of us for cocktails and appetizers in the bar. I asked if there were tables in the bar and was abruptly told they were for people that made a reservation and we could not sit inside. I then asked if we could sit outside. Again the same female manager was extremely rude, but did get a server to help set our table. The experience was so bad we did not order apps. We left after one drink. Not sure what has happened… Juban’s was so good after the remodel then quickly went downhill.
This review was done shortly after the remodel. What can I say… absolutely fabulous! Jubans is a classic and such a wonderful experience. From the time you enter and are greeted with a warm welcome, you know you’re in for a wonderful experience. Starting off with fun and fanciful cocktails accompanied by a fantastic, smoky Boudin dip. Their signature “Hallelujah Crab” did not disappoint. What a great dish. The newly remodeled restaurant pays tribute to its classic traditions. The service is fantastic. Jubans is a fancy place with a fun attitude that takes hospitality very...
