Went there for lunch today, 11/27/23.
As I was getting out my car, the manager was standing outside the back door, loudly cursing into her phone at someone.
Ordered my food for dine in, a Memphian, no spring mix, no tomato, with potato salad and lemonade. Unlike every other McAlister's I've been to, all over the US. instead of giving you a numbered card for your table and bringing your food to you, they simply take a name and yell your name.
The clerk that took my order was rude and impatient.
The wait for my food was exceedingly long. Well over 15 minutes, while other orders were going out and many drive through orders being sent out. Got my order finally, and instead of being on a plate like every other McAlister's I've ever been to, it was just thrown in a bag like Subway. I asked the clerk for napkins, but she said she would have to get some from the back.
The Memphian had almost no spicy brown mustard, a large amount of mayo, and had been just thrown together with zero care or attention to detail. When I brought it to the clerks attention, she acted like I was bothering her. The manager said she saw the problem with my sandwich and proceeded to put an insane amount of mustard on it. I sat back down and had to use the sandwich wrapper to wipe most of the mustard off that was now just glooped on it.
Took a couple bites before I realized something else was off. I looked more closely and realize they person that made it hadn't put any roast beef on it. It comes with turkey, ham, and roast beef.
I brought it back to the counter and the clerk was even more rude, acted like I was was wrong for wanting what I ordered to be right. She demanded the manager come handle the issue, and I just asked for my money back. The manager threw my sandwich in the garbage, but neither she nor the order taker knew how to refund money when someone had paid with a debit card like I did. The manage had to call someone to walk her through the process, and it took forever. While this was going on, the order taker was making snide comments to other customers. It was obvious she had a horrible attitude.
As I left, that same order taker came out the back door and proceeded to vomit all over the ground by the dumpster.
As another reviewer mentioned, the employees are straight ghetto. Nothing but bad attitudes and complete disregard for the normal standards of business. A problem you find quite often in Baton Rouge.
This place deserves much less than the 2.5 rating it had when I wrote this review. I wish I could give zero stars, but that's not an option.
I'll never eat at this location again, and I strongly suggest anyone reading this doesn't either.
I'll be calling the national office and the local franchisee if I can find out how to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave always loved McAlister's and was excited to have one open up in Baton Rouge. Visited for dinner service. Ordered a "King" Club and a half Rachel on white instead of rye with the half chipotle chicken spud. After waiting 30+ minutes for the food to arrive, the Rachel was on rye and the "King" club was the furthest from "king," as it resembled a sloppy excuse for a regular club (normal amount of ingredients, two pieces of bread, missing bacon). After confronting the manager with the incorrect food, original receipt, as well as a pictures of the King Club from the McAlister's website (actually featuring double ingredients and 3 pieces of bread), she said "oh, that's how corporate tells us to make the king club now, sorry there's nothing we can do." When I pointed out that the bread for the Rachel was incorrect, she argued with me saying "uh yeah, that's how it comes." It took me showing her the receipt with the correct substitution for the staff to "fix" the food. After the sandwiches were sent back for bacon that was originally missing from the King Club and to switch the rye of the Rachel to white, they finally came back out after 20+ minutes with the food. Kitchen staff, expo, and front of house staff need a hard reset, or close the restaurant that was opened too early, for a few days to properly train all individuals in the system, as many of these poor reviews have pointed out. Until these issues have been resolved, I will not be returning. Hopefully changes can be made before this brand new franchise location goes out of business from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I were elated to find out that Baton Rouge was finally getting a McAlister's deli again after they closed both BR locations many years ago. My husband and I are devout McAlister's fans and often travel to their nearest location in Lafayette to get our peach tea and chipotle chicken sandwich fix. So you can imagine our delight when we heard that McAlister's was headed back to our neck of the woods! Unfortunately, it looks like we'll be heading back to Lafayette to get the full McAlister's experience as we've been to the new Baton Rouge location twice in the last month and have experienced the same issue both times...COLD FOOD! I'm not sure how a sandwich could come out burnt and cold at the same time, but I know that's not up to classic McAlister's standards. Our food was cold, wrong, and it took forever to come out of the kitchen. I'm not sure if this location is just taking some time to hit their groove or if some kitchen personnel changes need to happen, but something needs to change. I'm giving this place 2 stars as of now, because the service staff and manager are extremely friendly and very helpful! The customer service is on point and the peach tea is just as amazing as it has always been. The kitchen staff just needs some help, desperately! I'd give it another month or two before going back. Hopefully that'll give them some time to work out these kinks, because we are so ready for the delicious bliss that is...
