My worst experience on Government Street, Baton Rouge happened today! I have been to this location more than 10 times and have gotten great service and food there but today there was a manager there that I have never seen there and when I pulled up to the menu to order, I was greeted and when I ordered my Spicy Chicken Combo, the manager said, "I'm looking for me a spicy chicken sandwich too!", I laughed it off and kept on ordering. I TRIED to order a Frozen Mango Lemonade and was told by the manager that all they had were fountain drinks so I ordered one. When I got my sandwich the chicken was small and cold so I pulled around to park and that same manager was outside sitting in her vehicle, she moved fast from that window. As I was getting out, she got out of her vehicle.amd asked what was wrong and I told her the chicken was cold. She asked if I was gonna wait for them to cook me one and I said yes, all the while the barely warmed fries I got from the window were getting colder. As I'm waiting, I noticed a customer getting a chilled mango lemonade so I asked the cashier if they had the frozen mango lemonade and he said yes and I was confused that the manager told me in drive thru that they only had fountain drinks, that cashier said I don't know why you were told that, we have both of them and I could see that because I was standing right there looking at the lemonade machines in motion, filled with both lemonades. I asked the manager why she told me they didn't have the frozen lemonade and she said because its too much work in drive thru smh. I always order this lemonade in drive thru and able to get it but she was on duty and said it was too much work and I informed her that I visit that location often and never had a problem getting the lemonade. My freshly cooked chicken sandwich came and I asked to exchange the fries for some fresh ones, the manager asked for the old order and accused me of eating most of the burger. At the beginning I said I moved from the drive thru to a parking place and got out and met this manager out, now at what time did I have to eat a burger? I did break it open and that's when I discovered it was cold and I walked in the store with the manager. The size of the burger is what I was given as mh order, I didn't complain about that, I just wanted my food close to warm/hot. This was a horrible experience. My son was there and was shorted nuggets and had to wait for more to be cooked just to receive two hot nuggets while his other six nuggets were getting cold. Zero courtesy was shown there. The front end cashier and filler bagger were very nice. October 1, 2023 was a real disaster, I hope things get better there so I can...
Read moreI will never again Visit the Government Street location. EVER AGAIN!!! Placed a pickup order tonight (July 28, 2021) at this location because our job loves the "Strawberry Lemonade frozen drink" and all the other locations we tried we were told "the machines are in heat" so we found out the Government Street location had theirs. So cool, I placed my order online thru the Popeye's app, nothing I don't do already (my home store is the Florida Blvd location) so I sent my coworker to pick up the order. She calls me saying they didn't have the "nuggets" that I ordered.. (36 pc & 3 strawberry lemonade frozen drinks) total was $25.79. So my coworker was told I needed to go to the app and cancel the order online (for which there was no option online to cancel) this is what I was trying to get thru to the manager as I was on the phone the whole time with coworker listening to everything. As time went on the manager refused to speak to my coworker who picked up the order, and also make her own order for the rest of our job. She kept repeating "go online and cancel, or it's nothing she could do" long story short, I ended having to wait for my coworker to come back to our job so I can go up there myself to show her on the app there's no cancel option and get the situation resolved (because I'm on the clock myself) the MOD had a really bad attitude about the whole situation making it seem that I was going to have to scrap my $25.79, even showing in my phone no option for cancelling order. I work at a food place so I know how the whole thing goes, it was when I was told the MOD didn't want to resolve the whole thing at that time when a call to a GM could've been made. GM told MOD to price wise just go with what I ordered I didn't get chicken but it's not what I wanted. I'll never stop buying Popeye's, but I won't from the government street...

⭐☆☆☆☆
I have encountered absolutely atrocious service at this Popeye's location twice in the last month, and I can no longer recommend it. As a delivery driver, I rely on efficiency and professionalism—but this place has consistently failed on both counts.
On one late-night visit (around 11:30 PM), I waited 15–20 minutes for an order that was clearly ready, left sitting on the counter. The staff’s attitude was deplorable: the cashier was dismissive and rude, and an accompanying employee, who looked shockingly young, seemed utterly incapable of managing basic tasks. It was as if no one was paying attention, leaving me frustrated and out of time.
During a second visit earlier in the evening when the lobby was open, the chaos continued. I waited at least 10 minutes despite clearly stating my order details. When my customer texted me to request a substitution on a side, the order had already been packed without any flexibility—forcing me to accept a completed order that didn’t match the request.
This location’s drive-thru is painfully inefficient, with orders taking far too long even when it’s not busy. The overall service is so poor that I’ve added this Popeye’s to my instant decline list on every delivery app.
In my opinion, this establishment should close permanently until they completely overhaul their staff and service protocols. I wish I could give zero stars, but I’m forced to leave it at one star. If you value prompt, courteous service, do yourself a favor and avoid this Popeye’s on...
