Sushi Village is a quaint restaurant. Although music is non existent and there is not much color, the Feng shui is awesome. It's set for families to come in and be a part of their family's dining experience.
The atmosphere is quiet and pleasant and the food is great. Each roll was beautifully presented and needed no additional flavors. The hibachi steak add shrimp was dig-in delicious. The dragon roll was shaped like a dragon and the flavor was phenomenal. The owner asked us our favorite roll out of the 5 or 6 we ordered and although the Hawaii roll was refreshing, that LSU roll was divine....gonna definitely go back and try that Mardi Gras roll.
You can tell that this spot is family-oriented, I love the fact that they incorporate each other in making the dream work. Next time I'll do dessert cause I was honestly stuffed to say my fiance was calling himself taking all his favorite women (me and our daughters) for a snack. I was good from noon till night. Don't go in there thinking sushi light and play play....you won't be disappointed.
I've seen people give it a low eating for low ambience but in truth all restaurants aren't made equal and some don't need anything else but you and the family to come eat and enjoy, this place is one. Sit down and take a load off, pull up a chair and take out a menu. And don't disrespect the owners asking for seasoning, they cooked it how you like it, and if they didn't, they did.

Read moreDon't waste your money or your time! The sushi was terrible, the miso soup was cold, and the salad was full of water. I don't say watery, because that would indicate wet lettuce. The salad bowl had about a half cup of water in it! Our server was very young, and very nervous. The only other people occupying a table were two young children. The mom, I believe, ran the kitchen. She kept coming out to check on the two youngsters, who would have been better served to stay home. My companion ordered cream cheese in her sushi. When it arrived from the kitchen, it was on top of the sushi. In front of us sat a bar full of raw fish, however, none of it was used. The sushi rolls all came from the kitchen. My friend also ordered a side of fried noodles. What she received was a plate of thick, brown spaghetti. When we questioned our waitress, she told us,"that's how we make it here! This place can't last another 3 months. Not with all the good sushi that Baton Rouge has to offer. What you get at a chinese buffet is superior to this. Once again, save your money and don't go! I guess you have to give it a star to post your review. The only reason I gave it one was to be able to warn any victims that might consider...
Read moreDisclaimer: I am an independent reviewer. I just randomly order from a local areas and tried it. No bias or paid by anyone to review this restaurant. I am also not a professional food critic. I only review base on what I have ordered. My orders: 1 combination shusi and sashimi and a shrimp fried rice. Location: Outside: the place is running down, sidewalk with missing tiles. In side: the restaurant has basic setting, both cook and host/ waiter has t-shirt on. Food: Presentation: it was ok, since I ordered togo. This doesn’t count as much. The sushi and sashimi serve with a small salad, 1 cup of miso soup. My sashimi and sushi was not at it best quality. I wouldn’t said it not fresh but it appeared that it was not defrost right. the texture of the fish either break apart when I pick it up by a chop stick or chewy. Again, the fish is the soul of the meal but it has failed. The fried rice even worse. The rice was over cooked prior to fry. The rice was soak in oil. The flavor was plain. I got about 5 large shrimps in the fried rice ; At least the shrimps were fresh. Overall: This is like a togo place that you want to stop and grab togo. The price is cheap. My total meal cost $34...
