EDIT: The Salad Station’s corporate leadership contacted me with a very nice apology, and I do appreciate that. 👍🏻
I’m so surprised people say they like this place. I guess my experience must have been unique—just a bad night? I was excited about going, but I was shocked by what I saw.
First, neither of the two employees greeted us, just kept talking to each other. There was no one else in the restaurant. The salad bowls are made from that weird brown molded styrofoam that really puts me off.
The salad bar itself was disgusting. The lettuce and most of the other green veggies were brown and wilted, some to the point of being slimy. The metal surfaces hadn’t been wiped down in who knows how long. I tried to pick out the greenest items, then proceeded to the dressing. Each large, heavy plastic bottle was streaked with spilled dressing, sticky, slimy and difficult to hold. All three of us got too much dressing because of that.
The baked potato “bar” was actually worse. There was one metal container that looked like a sink, and it contained about four small shriveled potatoes under a heat lamp. I chose one and opened it, and it looked okay inside, so I moved to the toppings. These were in square Tupperware containers on the counter with no ice or refrigeration at all, so the cheese was limp, the butter was separating into oil and whey, the sour cream was runny and the chives were brown and wilted. I couldn’t eat any of it, but since I’d already handled the potato, I kept it on my plate. I got a drink and went to the checkout counter.
My meal cost $8 and change, and I could barely eat any of it. I was shocked by the whole thing, and I did tell the employees how I felt. They seemed nonplussed, and there was no manager available. I doubt that my complaints went anywhere.
In short: I will never go to Salad Station again nor recommend it to anyone. But, I should say that my two dinner companions thought it was all fine and that I was overreacting a little. Sooo ... there...
Read moreSo I was working for salad station day in day out I'm the only black guy who's there 24/7. I'm not usually the one to bash a company that fire me for no reason !! Oh yeah that's right he fired me cause I did what I wanted to do well !! Working on my off days and coming in early is me not wanting to do what I want to !! Me missing out on a funeral 😭😞😢 😔 and coming in to work only because I have a manager who is all about his business and not yours , your baby could be dying with a tube to her body and the only response from him is take care of my business first!! What type of manager does that ??!! Don't get me wrong I love the salad station but the owner only cares about his business and nothing you as an employee or their personal business and what they have going on personal today was my last day of work on my off day !!! I keep the customer coming and have regular customers !!! If I can sue for missing a funeral of my engagement !!! Rest his soul 🙏!! I would sue the Mr rob and salad station for not letting me go to my husband funeral and firing on my off day for no reason !!! I was. A good worker and anybody who knows this black guy knows I bring and keep good customer service!!! Just ask the customer they always right!!!! ...
Read moreThis is for the Denham Springs Location on Range...you are a chain so its all the same...the lady weighing your food was very rude, not friendly at all.. ..2 girls at salad bar were nice ..But this review is FOR THE CHAIN ITSELF NOT LOCATION!! Put it like this go eat a steak it cost the exact same...it was 4 of us last night 4 salads and 4 drinks $70..we didn't have much on our salads....it was my 1st & last time there...u even feel rushed trying to make your salad because its 1 line at a salad bar...my ass and back were so uncomfortable on steel chairs I had a hard time getting up...so if u want to feel rushed eating and rushed in the line then pay dinner for 4 at a steakhouse...at least your legs and back won't be numb by end of your salad...they weigh your salad, and whatever u get, hospital cafeteria style...everything is by weight and I thought going "green" using their bowl instead of plastic they offered would help lessen it..but nope!! So bottom line it's not cheap and very uncomfortable and at least Denham Springs location wasn't friendly, atmosphere feels weird!! I'll keep buying my salad...
