La Cocina Mexicana #2 — Restaurant in Battle Creek

This is was my first time at this restaurant and my experience was a little below expectations, almost disliked it. We were supposed to go to another place, but it was closed, so we got to the next place we knew. The person who seated us was nice, but our waiter was so rushed... I don't know why. The way we ordered drinks and then food, at a mind boggling speed. The food took its time to come. Thankfully we had chips and salsa to keep us busy. That was ok. The chips is not the regular white flour (they were either gram flour or someother because they were yellow in color). I ordered the vegetarian quesadilla (i like mushrooms, but thank god it had onion and bell peppers too, the description did not say that). It was the first thing our waiter told me, so i went for it. My bf got some (meat) enchiladas, his mom got taco salad (Minus the tacos) and his son got fries and nuggets (favorite American food). My pic only shows my dish. So with my quesadilla, I had rice, lettuce, little bit of tomato, small spoonful of sour cream and guacamole. I think my quesadilla lacked taste, there was hard rice numerous times in my mouth, one time i had to take it out because I couldn't chew. The sour cream and guac was negligible as compared to other salad portions. My bf's order according to him was tasteless and he is always scared of having to rush to the bathroom after having Mexican. And he did go. With his enchiladas, there was no beans or rice. The taco salad looked like a mush because it was just beans and the lettuce on the side. (If someone didnt know what it was, they would be horrified). The nuggets were overdone and hard, so his kid couldn't eat it. Thankfully he munched on the seasoned fries with ranch. Overall, food is 2 for me, ambience is nice, 3 and service would be a 2.5. My wife came in to eat with her mom and our child for dinner on 3 /14/21 she called me when they were almost finished with dinner and asked if I wanted anything for dinner and I said yes so she ordered a burrito loco so she brought it home she left to go to the store I open up the To go box and noticed something that resembled a fry with all the cheese covering it so I was like bonus so I picked it up with my fork and put it in mouth and found out it was a piece of wood it ended up being a piece of a clothes pin so I called my wife to let her know there was a foreign piece of wood in my food so she called back to the restaurant and told them about it and they kinda blew her off say they were closed and all she was doing is letting them know that there was a clothes pin in my food but they were to busy to close to address the problem so she said she would take the pin back the next day and let the management know about what happened and they did not address to her that they even cared about what had happened so she felt like she just got blown off problem was never addressed by management usually this place has great food I’ve never had a bad experience until last night at first I was a little concerned about the clothes pin being in my food because of the COVID going on in the...

2 and a half years ago, when I was pregnant with my youngest, my husband and I got food to the go from here and I got food poisoning. Tonight was the first night since that we decided to try it again, as it used to be one of our favorite restaurants. When my husband got home with our food, it was cold. Not only was it cold, but, as my husband was eating his food he discovered mold on it. I called to complain, and asked for a manager. I started to explain, then suddenly I was speaking with a waitress instead of the manager. The manager couldn't even bother to try and listen. I am completely appaled at the obvious lack of standards. I felt that the person who was forced to listen to me tried making excuses, and it was obvious no one cared. What the hell happened to this establishment? It used to be amazing and great. Not anymore. I am very sad, appalled, frustrated, and angry. I highly recommend people avoid this...
