(Picture is OLD, from Nov. 2024) UPDATE March '25: in November 2024 I dropped my review to 2 stars. The sandwich I was given I will leave the images for as it does indicate the portions I was served at that time, the other picture is from their website.

I thought it had been long enough to try again. I'm happy to report that the portions were drastically improved, an abundance of fries and the bun was full (I didn't get a picture, but imagine that same plate overflowing). However, I will note two noticeable differences. The spice level and steak quality has changed. I don't think it was the peppers, although I'm not sure if those were the same lil Mama's peppers as before. But I did notice that the steak was not the same quality. It was more chopped up pieces, not flank that had been sliced and there was an increased amount of peppercorn increasing the hit level. I have to say it's not the same sandwich that I came to love last year, but I will increase my stars up to four for the greatly improved experience.

**Also I might be very slow to this realization of online ordering through their website (after taking that screenshot in Nov., oops), so I'm happy to say that the system was unexpectedly fast and efficient. I did have to get the sauce ordered in person I wasn't able to leave a note in the notes section, probably just a tech glitch.

Update November 2024 - All good things must come to an end I guess... The fry quality has always been poor, but I get the same amount of fries in a kids meal then what I had in my meal that I paid an up charge of $4.98 for. Usually it's almost 3 times that amount, I've shared the photo from their menu for comparison (which I see online has a lower cost than what I paid). The steak and cheese sandwich is also lacking, the bun is less filled than usual (and I order it about once a month ..) sad to say when quality dips so does the review, weird because they posted about winning an award today...

(Past review 4.5 stars) Love the steak and cheese sandwich, it's my go to! The steak is always tender and usually cooked to medium rare perfection. The fries could use an upgrade, but I like them better than chips. The pickle is not my favorite flavor (house made I believe) but the chipotle ranch is a great dip to add.

I usually order to-go, it's 50/50 whether or not I get turned away because they are busy. Calling until someone answers is the only option, hate disrupting the servers but you won't know until you try.. Oh also be quick with pick up when you do get to order, they use the plastic lined boxes so it will get soggy fast.

I'm happy to see the hours have been extended, nice to have an...

Really gone downhill. I lived in battleground from 2006 to 2021, so I was around from the get-go of this place. I recently moved to Ridgefield on acreage so I haven't been back for a bit and I must say I was really disappointed. There were three things wrong with our meal and two things right. Let's start with the right things: we had our dogs with us, so we of course ate on the patio and the waiter brought out a bowl of water immediately. Nice touch. The other right thing was my girlfriend tried the mac and cheese and it was quite tasty. Now for the bad: first off, the flies were ridiculous. There were times I had three and four flies on me at one time. Not sure what's going on on that back patio, but they make these things called fly strips and other preventative measures that should be employed. It's hard to enjoy your meal when you're literally miserable because of the flies. The next problem was the Prairie Burger, which is $18 by the way, that ended up being small, dry, and honestly looked like a smashburger that was a day old. I only ate half of it and threw the rest in a box to feed to my dogs when we got home. I've had this burger before and it was delicious. I don't know if they were training new cooks because it was Saturday night late, but the food down the street at McDonalds is better. I'm honestly embarrassed that I took my girlfriend there to eat and that's what they served. I talked the place up about how great it was, and like I said, I was just really embarrassed that that was my selection for where we were going to have a nice evening and relax. The final straw was our water. Yeah, water! I was drinking mine and looked down to see white specs in the bottom of the glass. Now I'm no water quality expert but I'm pretty sure there aren't supposed to be little white floaties in the bottom of the glass! I grabbed the girlfriend's glass and hers had same white crap in the bottom. That's just gross. And I talked to a chef friend of mine the next day and he said it was likely a dirty ice machine. Honestly I don't know what it was, nor do I care at this point, but the lack of even clean water to drink was just the cherry on top of a terribly disappointing evening! Our bill was $70.17 before tip and honestly it wasn't worth a third of that. Come on, Barrell Mountain, not sure if you have sold out or what, but you...

Where to begin- The very first time I arrived at Barrel Mountain brewing was exceptional. (Cozy rustic environment and friendly staff) The hummus plate was absolutely delicious and comes with all the perfect accompaniments. I then took my husband here for the second time and we ordered the steak and cheese sandwich plate. Again, barrel mountain delivered with a mouthwatering hoagie filled with perfectly medium rare steak and overflowing with delicious cheese sided with crispy homemade fries. At this point I felt as though I finally found heaven somewhere within the Vancouver area. Unfortunately, my heaven was short-lived. We've visited BMB three times since and the inconsistency has completely killed it for me. We ordered the steak and cheese sandwich plate once more and the steak was completely over done and the french fries were under done and soggy. Feeling as though we needed to give BMB another shot, we returned. Ordering a burger and again the steak and cheese sandwich plate, which this time had about half of the cheese we received the first time (MUCH SMALLER) and once again soggy underdone french fries. My children ordered food as well. We wanted to see what the children's plates had to offer. The macaroni and cheese is very underseasoned but overall decent. As for my son, he didn't receive as good of luck ordering as a sister did. He chose the quesadilla kids dish. The quesadilla had absolutely no cheese in it and the tiny triangles wear black on the bottom in which they hid (or failed to notice or remake) because they put the non-burnt side face up. I did try it to make sure that what I was seeing was correct by tasting. We did not complain. We love the stuff. The beer is great as well! It's such a shame as one expects consistency. You go back to restaurants because you fall in love with a dish. I'm not sure if the kitchen staff is the problem or? But I recommend barrel Mountain Brewing take a good look at their consistency in their plates before delivering to tables. I believe they need to set a standard and stay by it. Every dish should remain the same. The same amount of ingredients, cooking technique, and plating. Again, (sometimes) a...

My dining experience at Barrel Mountain Brewing in Battle Ground, WA, was a mixed bag. We started off with the Beet Medley as an appetizer, which set a decent stage for what was to come. For our mains, we opted for The Prairie Burger and the SW Burger, both of which sounded promising. We also couldn't resist trying the Stinky Rose Frites on the side and washed everything down with some of the local beers they had on offer. The Stinky Rose Frites, while generous in portion, left something to be desired. The overpowering taste of blue cheese was not to our liking and unfortunately lingered unpleasantly. On the other hand, the fries themselves were a hit in terms of quantity, making it one of the meal's positives. When it came to value, the experience did not entirely justify the cost. The total bill amounted to $96 for two, which felt steep considering our overall experience. It's worth mentioning that Barrel Mountain Brewing seems to enjoy popularity among locals and visitors alike, so it could very well be that our experience was an exception rather than the rule. Despite the venue's apparent popularity and some of the positive aspects of our visit, we were left feeling that we probably wouldn't return. However, for those who appreciate a hearty portion of fries and a wide selection of beers, this could still be a spot worth trying out.
