This strange little building makes pizza. It's pretty darn good pizza if I say so myself! In fact it's the best in Battle Ground, even when Rocky's decides it knows how to make pizza on a good day. That part of their website is accurate. Unfortunately...
Ordering, obtaining, paying for and subsequently enjoying their food are not amazing experiences. It's definitely not Detroit-style. You know, deep dish and fluffy, square shaped, cross-cut, burned cheese all over the crust, etc. What it is, on the other hand, is inconsistent regarding the prep time as others have stated. I've been twice since moving here in 2021, and those two visits were enough for me. One time I ordered 30 minutes prior, showed up when asked, and waited 30 minutes in the tiny building shoulder to shoulder with other people impatiently checking their watches. The other time I ordered 45 minutes prior. Showed up 10 minutes later than asked (the reviews gave me a heads up this time), and waited 15 minutes in an empty restaurant for my pizzas. Despite all these growing pain problems in a well-established restaurant, it's also extremely expensive. I believe it's more meant to compete with the likes of high-tier pizza places like Blind Onion. Blind Onion however has perfect pizza. It's cheaper, faster, and more consistent than Det. Pizza. If you don't have the energy to drive to Vancouver or strong desire for the best, but you do have most of an afternoon to wait... Papa Murphy's is a DEAL.
Sigh... I really struggle to recommend Detroit Pizza. I wish they were at least consistent. Having no way of knowing if you'll wait 35 minutes or an hour or more for solid, not incredible pizza is pretty frustrating. Then when they ring up your total it's hard not to feel insulted. I don't mean to bash them. The pizza really is good! It's just not worth it. Any of it. The good news is they could pick literally any of the lacking areas I spoke of, fix that, and it would make the place WAY more tolerable. They could cut prices (just do this anyway honestly. They make no sense.), make the pizzas better, or make the pizzas faster and on time for pickup at the indicated time. I hope they can improve because the location is...
Read moreThis was my go to place for pizza until they couldn't take ownership for their mistake.
I paid for my pizza and the computer froze while waiting for the tip screen to load. I put my card in a second time and paid the amount and when the tip screen came up, left a tip. I found out later while looking at my bank statement they charged me for first time I paid and the second time I paid with a tip.
I went back to the establishment and spoke with staff who said they read on Facebook that it was a banking issue. I requested to have the manager call me and they never called back. Called back the following day and spoke with the manager who said their computer says I only paid once and pointed the finger at the bank.
Working in retail, I know looking at the credit card transaction log, it can vary from what was entered into a computer used for documenting orders. Being that I have two transactions charged to my bank, one of the cost of the pizza and one of the cost of the pizza with the tip, I suspect their credit card log would show I was charged twice.
I contacted my bank who said there was no banking issue and it was charged twice and I will have to dispute the order. I am in the process of disputing it. I understand computers don't always work as planned and sometimes things get charged twice. Any other establishment I go to, they take ownership in the mishap and fix the mistake. Detroit Pizza however chose to point the finger at someone else instead of looking further into the issue and this is why I would not support this...
Read moreSo, I have mixed feelings about this place. Tried it for the first time tonight, I ordered an extra large pan style chicken garlic and some chicken wings. As it was my first order from them ever, they threw in a thing of cheese bread, which was nice. The food was very good, and the staff was pleasent, but it took 2 hours to get my pizza. They told me it would be an hour, which I was prepared to wait. I called at 1 hour 30 minutes, and was told the driver had just left. I live 1.2 miles away, and the driver arrived right at the 2 hour mark. The pizza was still warm, my main issue is woth the delay. The other concern is the extra large pizza I recieved was 10" x 12", which makes it by far the most expensive pizza for its size in the area. The staff was friendly and attentive on the phone, and the delivery driver was plesent when he arrived, but I really can't reccommend this place due to the other issues. I may give them another chance someday, but this was very much a mixed bag first customer...
