Bay Harbor Café — Restaurant in Bay Harbor Islands

Used to be our favorite local spot. After they remodeled and new ladies were hired it’s terrible. First of all it was empty but the lady was on the phone in IG even when we were talking to her. We ordered Arepa and soup (it was my daughter’s favorite lentil soup since we moved to the island). 15 min later there was no soup or arepa. We were sitting outside and I saw that only one lady working in the kitchen, another on the phone. When I walked inside, she was still on the phone and told me soup is cooking, arepa is ready and I can take. Again we were the only customers. I got used to good service all the time, fast delicious food. This time arepa was full of oil. I asked to remake it and said that it was never like this. She barely looking at me still at her phone said she can give me money back. I said I feel bad for the owner who we know and he used to be always at this place. We didn’t hear apologies or anything. Must be racist. I came in to do a pickup. Needed the restroom, my wife came in with me so she can also use it. We spent no more than 7 minutes inside. The old lady knocked on the door and rudely told us that only 1 person in the restroom at a time. I asked her what exactly did she think we were doing inside there, she responded "I don't know" she then decided to be aggressive and argumentative toward myself and my wife. My family and I stopped in during our weekend in Miami, it was so wonderful we ended up going both days we were there. The cafe con leche was delicious and the arepas were amazing, we got an assortment of them and they were all wonderful. The guava pastries were great too, and they even heated them up for us to try warm. They also have a frozen mint lemonade that was the best we'd ever had from anywhere else.
