I so want to give this place 5 stars. Maybe it's just all the great experiences I've had at various the Palm locations in New York for so many years. The good news is, I really do think it's a great restaurant. The quality of the food is excellent and the people and service are great.
When I arrived, it was pretty much bitterly cold. I asked if there was anything they could do about that in everyone at the bar noted that they were freezing, too.
Why was the place so darn cold that everybody was uncomfortable until somebody finally piped up and asked for them to do something about it? This speaks to a lack of a attunement to customer needs, albeit a flexibility to meet those needs immediately upon request.
Secondly, this is an old school Steakhouse. Why were there not only no anchovies on my Caesar salad but also not even a hint of such flavor in the dressing? Very disappointing. When I later asked the bartender, he noted that they're happy to include Anchovies and even extra anchovies upon request. Why isn't that something that they ask when you're ordering, if they're not going to include that in the first place?
The steak was good but slightly overcooked for medium-rare.
I have to say, the prime rib someone else was having looked amazing. She confirmed that it was so I will give this place another shot and give it a try, along with anchovies on my Caesar salad.
The wine suggestion by the bartender was excellent and probably the lowest priced on the menu, which I appreciated.
The gluten-free chocolate cake was kind of eh. this is a top-end place and you certainly pay for it. There are about a zillion recipes available online for good gluten free cakes. This one was not one of them. It wasn't bad, it was just kind of neutral.
I gave the restaurant four stars because again, the people were super nice, the crowd was nice, the quality of the food was good, but they need to work on the preparation of it and the gluten free chocolate...
Read moreWe had a 730 reservation and were seated right away. We were 4 people and ordered cocktails, 2 salads, 2 steaks along with a 4 pound lobster to share between 2.
We have been going to the Palm for many years, and always found the service top notch. Last night was not a night the Palm should be proud of. Our waitress took our order brought our cocktails promptly but things went downhill from there on. It took about 20 minutes to get the salads, not terrible, but longer than should have been. Once we got the salads, we did not see the server for a half hour. Water not refilled, just sat with dirty plates in front of us. After a half hour, she cleared our plates and we did not see her at all for another half hour. She than appeared with the 2 steaks, one sirloin delicious and cooked perfect, the other a small filet, ordered medium, but way overcooked.Filet should have been returned, but my wife was too shy to do so.
So 2 of us had our meals but lobster only appeared 10 minutes later. To be polite, we ate the steaks slowly to not allow to get cold, and to make sure we were not finished by the time the lobster finally showed.
We finally finished our meal at 10pm . Virtually every table was empty by this time. Groups around us that arrived much later than us were finished and gone.
Bill for 4 was over $500, the waitress overcharged me on a glass of wine which I complained about and she revised it but still charged me more than the posted price. Normally I would not make an issue for a few dollars, but this service and night did not justify over paying. I was not in a mood to fight over the 2nd overcharge, so I just took it off her tip. I still tipped 15% which is far from my usual 20% for good service. Frankly I regret even that tip as servers indifference should have been compensated...
Read moreWe came to miami for vacation all the way from new york and stayed at a hotel close by. My husband and I decided to see if we could find a restaurant to eat at that wasn't fast food so we decided to try the palm never hearing about it or knowing anything about it. We ordered our food but no prices were listed at all and we were not told that it was more of a high end restaurant that served more of the wealthy class people. I will say i knew something was up when we came into the place by the looks we got as if we didn't belong but they let us stay and eat anyways. They were all incredibly nice after we started ordering but now i realize it was only because of the money they knew we were spending. To be honest we’re not millionaires but we’re not extremely poor either but i would personally rather eat at a texas roadhouse or any other steak house because the food is just as good other places and you receive more quantity and pay less. Guess we’re just the type of people that feel like flaunting your money and spending a ridiculous amount of money on one dinner is nonsense. We paid almost 600 for one steak and a 4 lb lobster and a small plate of asparagus and one bottle of wine i could've paid 80 dollars from where i come from instead of 180 I paid for the same wine here. Definitely wasn’t worth the prices. Will never go back mostly because we are not from around here. I recommend listing prices especially in a high tourist area. I couldn’t imagine if someone came in that wasn't from here and didn't have enough money to pay for their dinner because prices weren't listed. The three stars i gave are only because of the service we got. I recommend listing prices on everything...
