I received my order in the mail today. I ordered one original crumb cake, one blueberry crumb cake, and one apple pudding cake. All three cakes came in one box. The crumb cake have a small cardboard plate and they are wrapped in plastic wrap. The apple pudding cake which looks to have had some drizzled icing on top was put inside of a parchment paper bag. The crumb cakes are fine being shipped in plastic wrap. However I'd recommend shipping the pudding cake in an actual container. The oils from the cake soak through the parchment paper bag and the icing drizzle sticks all to the top of it. The first one I tasted was the apple pudding cake. This cake is so good. Just the Cake part is amazing, and the crumb topping along with the apple makes the cake out of this world. I'll definitely be trying the other flavors. I'm originally from New York so I've had some pretty good coffee cake /crumb cakes. The crumb cake is good, I got it with the powdered sugar. For my taste buds I would have liked a little bit more cinnamon in the crumb topping and a little bit more actual cake. Just in my personal opinion I feel like the crumb topping to cake ratio is slightly off. I would just like to see a little bit more cake but keep that amount of crumb topping because everybody loves crumb topping. I did like the blueberry filling crumb cake a little bit more than the original. I think I'll try the raspberry filling next time because I'm sure it's going to be good. Overall they have decent cakes and I would...
Read moreI think I paid, on average, $5.00 for every item I purchased at this bakery. 2 cookies, a brownie, and a cupcake. Nearly $5.00 for the cupcake. My daughter said the cupcake was pretty good. The brownie...as far I am concerned, Wawa sells better prepacked brownies, to be honest. the frosting had no taste, and the brownie cake itself tasted bitter with an aftertaste. The cookies were "not bad". For me, better to bake fresh at home for a whole lot less, as someone who avidly bakes and grew up with a Grandma who was a baking marvel. Also, the young lady who handled my counter service didn't smile once. She spoke as if she was being troubled by having to assist me. Good customer service is one thing that I always focus on, as someone who has worked in a bakery and other service oriented jobs. I'd rather go to a place where the product is so-so with exceptional, friendly service that makes me smile and when I leave gives me that warm and happy feeling inside (which I have experienced many times at many places), than a place with an excellent product with so-so service. This place really didn't impress me with either. There was one lady who greeted me when I first approached the counter. She was pleasantly friendly, ready to help. The other young lady should take some pointers. According to my parents, who are locals, the bakery is renowned for its crumb cake. Not my thing, but perhaps that is...
Read moreToday, I arrived at Mueller's Bakery at 6:10 AM, which might seem crazy, but they open at 6:30, and I wanted to be the first person in the door! When you walk in on a Saturday morning at the start of the summer season, you know immediately from the aromas and the beautifully filled cases and shelves that everything is freshly baked. I selected their seasonal blueberry lemon cake for my beach house renters, and for myself, I picked out a big, beautiful cinnamon walnut (or pecan- I'm not sure) danish. I drove over to Dunkin, got myself an Iced coffee, and I sat in my car and enjoyed every bite of that danish! Their danish pastry is about the best I've ever had - except for the bakery from my childhood years- Margie's Cakebox in Scotch Plains, NJ. Every bite of my Mueller's danish today was fresh and heavenly. A lot of the danishes you find today, even from fancy bakeries in NYC, are extremely crusty, and even crunchy. I don't want that! I want to sink my teeth into soft, fluffy-layered danish with a beautiful drizzle of confectioner sugar glaze, the perfect amount of cinnamon, and a generous amount of chopped nuts. If you're looking for old school danish that you will love, you need to visit this bakery, but be prepared to wait on a long line unless you arrive before...
