Went here for the first time on a Saturday night around 5:30pm. No wait and only about 1/4 of the place was filled with patrons, should have been my first clue. We were seated and given menus but before we even had a chance to settle in and pick up the menu our server was asking for our drink order. We said we needed a minute to look over the beverages so she left us and returned a few minutes later. We ordered non alcoholic beverages and were still looking over the menu when the server returned asking if we were ready to order. We said we needed a few minutes since we hadn't been there before. Server returned and we placed our orders. We asked for an order of Taquitos to share as an appetizer, but unfortunately there was nothing appetizing about them. The outer shells were greasy and hard and the beef inside was dry and tough. Next came the entrees: Tacos with barely any ground beef inside, rice that was bright orange in color but that had no seasoning to it, and a steak quesadilla fajita that was served whole, folded in half but not cut as quesadillas usually are. The steak instead was also tough and dry. So I don't understand the 5 star ratings some people have given. The only explanation I can think of is that a lot of alcohol must have been consumed. As far as atmosphere, other than the place being new there isn't much to speak of. Booths, chairs, and the lower portion of the walls are all a dark navy with the upper half of the wall painted an off white. Some random tacky artwork here and there and lots of flat screen TV's. What about this place says authentic Mexican restaurant??? Will not be back, would...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. Like really bad. I have absolutely no idea how it has the reviews it has. I gave it 3 chances. First time was really good! Our 2nd visit... we ordered street corn... it came out dry as can be. It was basically burnt corn on the cob. The wait time was seriously slow but beyond that my food was ok. Now 2 months later I go to give this place another shot.. and I absolutely won't be returning. We waited over 50 minutes for our food. One fajita burrito, 3 beef enchaladas and 3 meat and cheese only tacos. How is easy that order? Almost an hour of waiting my daughter received 3 tacos with everythibg on them, I had the tiniest enchaladas I've ever seen in my life, and my husband recieved a burritos absolutely smothered in red sauce. I told them the soft tacos was me and cheese only. He returned with 3 meat and cheese tacos that felt like they were straight out of the fridge... meat wasn't even luke warm enough to warm up the ice cold cheese spread on top.. and as far as my man burrito. It a as a burrito... not an enchalada. You can pick up a burrito and eat it with ur 2 hands.. never have I seen a burrito covered in red sauce. I was just very disappointed. It wasn't that busy... people come to you because they are hungry. They don't want to wait an hour only to be handed something that was so...

El Mezcal is hands-down one of the best local Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and from the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely welcomed.
The food was absolutely outstanding. I had the carne asada, which was perfectly grilled, tender, and packed with smoky, savory flavor. The birria tacos were next-level—rich, juicy, and loaded with bold, authentic taste. Dipping them in the flavorful consommé was the cherry on top.
Even the little things stood out—the chips were warm and crispy, the salsa had the perfect amount of kick, and the Dos Equis was as tasty as I would have expected.
A special shoutout to our server, Antonio, who was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. He was knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations—we really appreciated his hospitality.
El Mezcal has everything you want in a great dining experience: incredible food, welcoming service, and a relaxed, authentic vibe. If you’re craving real Mexican flavor, don’t miss this place.
Already looking forward to...
