Ricardo's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Baytown

It saddens me to write this negative review as I was so hopeful about this place, and I saw that the staff was kind and hard-working.

That being said, this was the absolute worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. The only things that tasted decent were the chips and salsa. Everything else was terrible. My husband vomited as soon as we got home, so about 3 minutes after we left- as in he was holding it in for the drive, ran out of the car, and puked in the grass. He had a burrito that was literally just ground beef in a tortilla with cheap cheese on it. The ground beef was not fully cooked, which is a major health concern. Yes, ground beef can be eaten raw as with hamburgers, but if you know a bit about foodborne illness or microbiology, you know that even medium rare burgers are quite risky. I had potatoes and eggs with refried beans and "corn" tortillas. We tried to eat as much as we could since we don't like wasting food, but the real waste of the food came from it being poorly prepared.

I don't say this to be hateful, because I know what it's like to work in a restaurant. I say this because the food was unacceptable. I urge this restaurant to do better. If that means raising the prices to use higher quality ingredients, do that. If that means shortening the menu, do that.

Excellent food and salsa. Their competitor The Original is nasty. This place has fresh food that is good and tasty. I recomend this place as compared to The Original who serves spoiled or near spoiled food.

Edit: April 19th Food was excellent but wait staff hold grudges for a mistake a previous waitstaff had with us. So it this time poor service... owner you need to speak to your staff and get them to understand to treat your guest right. Today we ordered menudo and we asked for pan bollio... the waitress brought out corn tortialls, I was eating them while we corrected their mistake and brought out the bread.... she brings out one split in half!! We were shocked... she says yes this is it.... then proceeds to pick up the tortials and takes them away. That, that is bad business you do not do that take away something we were eating and you made the mistake. It should have been complimentary as it was your mistakeand we are having to wait for your waitress to bring half a bread for a Large Menudo!! Not happy one bit; I feel like not coming back or recomending it anymore to clients of mine. Train you waitress to ask before taking...

First time visit Customer service by our waitress Norma was top notch friendly and attentive. Menudo and Barbacoa were superb delicious corn tortillas hand made were delicious

I would definitely return because of the excellent customer service and delicious food. However I would never sit in a booth or booth #2 where we sat and made this an unpleasant experience.

The restaurant booth is worn and outdated, The cushions are sunken, providing little support, and you can feel the hard frame beneath. This booth #2 clearly hasn't been updated in years and detracts from the dining experience. Unfortunately there was no other seating available since place was packed.
