My Brother in laws and i stopped here on our way home to Washington State from the LS Fest in Vegas. I am an avid BBQ consumer, I love to smoke my own foods and this place is what i aspire to achieve in my own skills of preparing AMAZING TASTING BBQ. I ordered the PULLED PORK, RIB TIPS, & BRISKET. My entrees were complimented with the CREAMIEST JALAPENO MAC I have ever tasted. EVERY single part of my order was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The Pulled Pork was PERFECTLY DONE, THE RIB TIPS FELL OFF THE BONE BUT STILL HAD THAT LITTLE BITE, THE BRISKET WAS SOOOO TENDER THAT YOU COULD LITERALLY CUT IT EFFORTLESSLY WITH THE PLASTIC FORK, THE BBQ SAUCE WAS SPECTACULAR AS WELL... While we were indulging in this DIVINE MEAL we heard other customers thanking the Pit Master and telling him it was the best BBQ they ever tasted as well. My brother in law ordered the cheddar stuffed sausage and it was sooo Tasty we asked the owner to sell us a dozen each to take with us to which he obliged. The owner was very nice he came out and introduced himself and shook our hands it was a welcoming place. The atmosphere was EXCELLENT, the lady at the register was Very polite and spoke with a strong southern accent that just made you feel right at home. IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA AND LOOKING FOR A MEAL THAT WILL HIT THE SPOT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STOPPING THERE. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK HERE THEY GET 5 STARS FROM ALL 3 OF US...

On our last trip to Death Valley, we got tired of eating the same food and decided to drive to Beatty, Nevada, for something different. Once in Beatty, I quickly searched on my phone for options, and Smokin J's Barbecue jumped out at me!
The restaurant is easy to find. It is located on the corner of Main and 21 Streets. If you are driving north on Hwy 95, it is right at the end of the block to your right, as you turn right onto the main street.
The dining area is big. There are about 10-12 tables in there, and they have a bunch of tables on their patio.
You have to order and wait for your number to be called. We asked the lovely lady to give us a couple of recommendations, and she did that after she asked us about our meat preferences. I had Beef Brisket, Cole Slaw, French Fries, and a cup of Baked Beans. It was a lot of food, and we shared, but everything I had or tried was delicious. The quality of the meat was excellent. The Cole Slaw was delicious, and I swallowed the baked Beans so fast that I did not get to overthink the flavors, but I assure you they were tasty!
Did I mention the fries? The fries were so good that everyone decided to help themselves with mine! I was not too happy about that, but when traveling in the desert, you must learn to share!!! :-P
Next time you are around Beatty, pull over for a meal at Smokin J's Barbecue. You will be...
Read moreAs my profile states, BBQ is one of my favorite food groups! This BBQ joint was so good. I’m happy we were passing through and decided to give it a try. If you’re ever going through Beatty, NV, I highly recommend giving Smokin’ J’s BBQ a try.
For people who want more detail, we tried the Brisket and Pulled Pork sandwiches. We also tried the side of beans. Compared to other BBQ, I’d say theirs is on the dryer side of the scale but putting a little of their house sauce makes up for it. That house sauce has to be one of my favorites, right up there with Little Miss BBQ in Phoenix, AZ and Micklethwait in Austin, TX. Somokin’ J’s house sauce is more sweet and tangy, which I enjoyed.
The beans were pretty good too. I’d consider them ranch-style beans since they have bits of meat mixed in. This is the best type in my opinion!
Atmosphere-wise, they have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating and everything was clean and tidy! I sometimes appreciate my more rugged BBQ joints but it’s good to have some that are more comfortable.
Lastly, bathrooms were very clean and they have the long toilets! Idk why, most places we’ve stopped in Beatty have circle toilets which, I’m not a fan of (too small).
Well, I think that’s it for now. I hope you enjoy as much as we did...
