I'll give them props for keeping the restaurant open and running a show to the best of their ability. Mind you, I have had the pleasure of tasting some of the best Middle Eastern food in United States, in South Eastern Michigan. (Dearborn) From that prior experience, I cannot call this food more than garden variety. I'll tell you why: their vegetable kabab was merely a fresh unseasoned skewer of cauliflower, tomato, zucchini, with a drizzle of tasteless tahini, served with flovourless boiled rice. The spinach pie was deflated, with squished spinach filling. I did not dare to eat it after my experience with the veggie kabab.
On a positive note, my partner said that shrimp skewer was good, and I liked their tabouleh. (was fresh and well prepared) I think that's where the positive notes end. Their mint tea is essentially a Stash tea bag in a pot of hot water with charge for every glass they get to the table. I got a plate of lifeless mint leaves to season our tea. Throughout our 45 mins dinner we weren't asked whether we needed more hot water or a tea bag.
I believe the initial 110+ dollar bill for four people, could only justified by the live dance they arranged for the evening, but somehow we couldn't get past the uninspired, soulless food, and chose to get out of the restaurant as soon as we can, to eat something we enjoyed. To add salt to the wound, when we asked for hot sauce, we got a store bought Thai chilli sauce.
Despite our disappointing experience, we thought the waiters and waitresses were doing their best to compensate for what seemed like an understaffed restaurant. I don't think we will go back to...
Read moreI have got Oasis togo before and I was super disappointed when I got home and noticed I got regular fries instead of the spicy garlic fries that I ordered and paid for. Other than that it was decent.
I am not really the type to give a place another chance after something like that. Alas I decided to get a gyro tonight and once again I was super disappointed. I don't even know how you can sell a Gyro with so little sauce on it. Its sad when you have to order extra sauce and pay for it just so your Gyro isn't dry and bland. I almost paid 75 cents for extra sauce but I remembered always having plenty of sauce on any Gyro I have ever ordered. Well when I opened the container with the Gyro in it I instantly regretted that decision. I also regretted ordering it right before they closed as I could not return to Oasis and request more sauce.
In addition to the unbelievably small amount of sauce that was put on it they also fried or baked the wrap and that was super disappointing as well. It was hard and dry, I had a hard time biting through it. Don't forget there was hardly any sauce on the Gyro with the hard and dry wrap.
Overall I rate them as being super disappointing. I gave them 1 star because you have to give them at least 1 star to post a review. How in the world could you put such a minuscule amount of sauce on the Gyro and think it was ok. I would strongly recommend against ordering togo from Oasis. They do have some potential though so dining in could possibly...
Read moreWhat a gem! We had one of the best servers I have ever had in my entire life. She was personable, friendly, efficient and took really good care of us. We were initially seated in an area that we ended up, not feeling comfortable in. We requested to be moved and they promptly took care of that with no hassle. Then we asked our server for advice since the menu was not very familiar to us. She provided excellent suggestions and everything she suggested, we tried. And it was all fabulous.
They have some very interesting cocktail combinations. I can’t remember the name of what I had, but it was great.
We tried a sampler plate of hummus and baba ghanoush and several other things. You can customize the plate if you don’t like some thing . We don’t like eggplant so we had extra hummus and no eggplant. The server had said that if you have anything, make it the hummus because it is so amazing and so different from what you buy in the stores. And was she right! In addition to the sampler plate we had a ground beef kebab with the basmati rice and sautéed veggies. This was served with a an amazing tahini sauce.
And then there was a belly dancer. I’m not sure if it’s just on Friday nights so check ahead if you’re interested. She was amazing. Great outfit. Able to balance a sword on her thigh or her head and still do belly dancer moves. She was talented.
It’s obvious we had a great time there! I hope you try it because I don’t think you will, be...
