Hey, Portlanders, If you were a fan of Lin's China Jade (near Cedar Hill and Hall) before the owners retired, and have lamented about it past 2 years (like me), lement no further and worry no more about finding a comparable place. It turns out that the most of the former employees moved to a new restaurant that is owned by a couple who worked at the very restaurant, Lin's China Jade, for over a decade, and were trained by the original chef, to take over after the original owners retire!!! That new restaurant is this one, Stir Crazy Kitchen! My daughter in Seattle happened to encounter a review that mentioned a place that was trying to reproduce Lin's China Jade while serving other Chinese food! For this very reason only, we came to test it out. When we walked in, the new owner and we recognized each other from the Lin's days! Obviously, we were pleasantly surprised and instantly became excited with anticipation. We ordered our "usual" items (Jjampong, Tansuyook, and Happy Family). Well, the food tasted very much like the former China Jade's, satisfying our pallettes as before. Even the side dish, kimchi, tasted about the same! A slight difference was the Jjampong. The new version is a bit lighter and cleaner taste while the former was thicker and heavier (a bit spicier also) soup base. It was very good also in its own way. The amount of food, including the ingredients, seemed ample, the way Chinese food should be -- good taste and value. See the photo of Jjampong, which was after partitioning it into three portions. By the way, I really like the large spoon that comes with Jjampong, which helps one take larger amounts of the soup with every spoonful, to enjoy the key portion of such a dish, soup base! AnywY, we shall return when we are back in town...

I visited this restaurant a year ago and remember the food being much better. This time, it didn’t live up to those expectations. We ordered the Mongolian beef, house special chicken, shrimp fried rice, and jjampong. The house special chicken was okay, but I wish it had been served warmer. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was underwhelming. The Mongolian beef was overly salty, and the jjampong had an unpleasant smell, with noodles that were too thin and had more of a soba-like texture, which didn’t work for the dish at all. The shrimp fried rice was also excessively greasy. Overall, the flavors were completely different from what I enjoyed a year ago. Hopefully, this was just an off day, but I left feeling disappointed.

I am plant based vegan and so ate here based off other reviews. I ordered the Family style tofu because they told me it had plenty of veggies. It had a few pieces of broccoli, some mushrooms. A couple snow peas, a few water chestnuts, and a couple pieces of bok choy but not a lot of anything. They also would not let me get rice noodles instead of rice. The menu prices are higher than what is posted as well. The food was mediocre and I won’t stop here again. Edited to respond to the owner- you wanted me to pay $6 for a side of noodles, no thanks . Do you realize that would have made my lunch cost? You don’t have to worry, I won’t be back.

Ordered orange chicken, curry chicken wo/onion and mushroom, pork fried rice and a side of vegetables and tofu for my young son. Delivery was fast but not too fast, I was worried about it showing up too soon like it wasn't made fresh but boy was I wrong.

The orange chicken is seriously some of the best I've ever had and I've ate allot of orange chicken throughout my time.

The curry chicken was not spicy enough at first I couldn't notice the curry flavor, but after eating on it for a while it began to grow spicier and spicier until I was sweating, I was straight up left baffled never having an experience like that eating curry before.

Honestly the pork fried rice wasn't how I invisioned it looking but I wasn't disappointed with the flavor or the way it complimented either dish.

Delivery driver was nice and friendly with a big smile! He didn't expect a tip which is a nice change of pace I hate being asked "do you want your change?" The "here's your change" "no that's ok you can have it" was a breath of fresh air compared to typical delivery guys. I always feel bad for saying "ya I want my change" and in that moment of feeling bad I usually don't tip.

Baby son loves the veggies and tofu he's been talking and smiling up a storm! Thank you for the quality food and...

We usually love Stir Crazy Kitchen in Aloha, ordering weekly til the pandemic hit then inflation so now it’s once a month. The prices are so high but we loved their food til recently.

The last two times we have ordered, the food wasn’t as high quality as before. Then last night, after spending over $60 for 2 ppl, we received bad shrimp (smelled slightly off and tasted sour). We called to let them know and they offered to replace now or later. We choose now but then thought (what’s to say we won’t receive the same quality?) so canceled it in less then 3 minutes and opted for later. Stir Crazy Kitchen calls us back and demands that we come in and pick it up now because it was already made before we canceled 🧐 (umm NO ty!) I refused and they just told me that I had to pick it up now. I told them never mind then, they hung up while yelling something in foreign language.

Sadly to say, we will never go back, unless new management took over.

PS…the fried rice we ate was clumpy like it was cooked with too much water and the chicken and vegetables had an off taste, but ate it anyways. We both had diarrhea the next day…guess it’s home cooked Chinese...
