This evening while dining in at the local restaurant, we were waited on by an amazing waitress, Shyanne. Our concern is not her commitment to our dining experience, rather that of her “front end supervisor”.
Our party of 5 arrived, was quickly seated, and submitted our order for drinks and appetizers while we waited on our additional guest to arrive. The food came out quick, was very delicious, and our waitress was very attentive.
The problem that I am seeking resolution to, remains when our table placed a drink order after our meals has been delivered and partially consumed. 2 of our guests ordered a third round of alcoholic beverages, once they were delivered I ordered a third beverage to enjoy as we finished our dining experience. The front end supervisor had already visited our table and was extremely brief and short with us - nonetheless, we continued enjoying the company of our friends after her departure from our table. When our waitress, Shyanne, deliver the 2 other guests their alcoholic beverages, I requested to order a third drink as well. Shyanne took my request and followed up with a statement that she had to have a manager approval because her manager (Regina) stated to her that if our table ordered any more alcohol it needed a managers approval. I was shocked and embarrassed that Shyanne had told me that, as if I had been disruptive or something because of alcohol. Our table was one of 3 in the section occupied during our visit, and the restaurant was overall pretty quiet for our dinner experience.
Shyanne left to consult with her manager for approval of my third drink, came back and delivered the item, and explained to our table that their concern was our safety after leaving. She continued, saying this was our final order and she was not able to place orders for anymore beverages for our table, as they have a 3 and done policy, pursuant to the conversation with her manager.
We had a party of 5… myself and 2 other guests had 3 alcoholic beverages; guest 1 had 3 single-shot jack and cokes, guest 2 had 3 old fashioned’s, and I had an old fashioned, small pour of wine with my dinner, followed by a second old fashioned that prompted our encounter. The other two guests had 1 margarita when we arrived and waited on our additional guest; the last guest had 1 Long Island prior to receiving our food.
My concern is not that of the quality of our food, or the professionalism and curiosity of our waitress, Shyanne; but rather that of the front end supervisor. My family, friends and I have frequented this establishment, if not a hundred times, since it’s opening. Of all our visits I have never experienced such embarrassment as I did this evening. I am sorry Shyanne had to confront our table with the message from her manager, and I’m sorry my guests had to experience such embarrassment while sitting beside other guests. Each of us included in this party are healthcare professionals and fully understand the effects of alcohol and how it’s metabolized in the human body. We would never jeopardize anyone, and take safety very serious. It’s not only embarrassing, but insulting the situation we were put in during our dining experience.
The guests in my party indicated they are taking this Resturant off our list of places we frequent. We each are very well known in the community, and hold prestigious professions within the community. This experience was very unprofessional, displeasing, insulting, disrespectful and very embarrassing.
I would like a formal followup from a leader of this establishment identifying the steps that’s being taken to address these issues and what precautions are being established to ensure this level of embarrassment, belittlement, and unprofessionalism never happens to another guest...
Read moreThis was my first experience with this chain, and I was excited about the peanuts. Turns out, no peanuts. Or silverware, napkins or plates, despite the two baskets of lukewarm, hardish little rolls with a side of tasty cinnamon butter that were carried along with us to table. By the time we arrived my teeth were chattering despite the sweater one must take to indoor places during the summer. I give cudos to the hostess who noticed, asked about our comfort and quickly adjusted the temperature in that section.
The absent table necessities failed to arrive with the waitress, and did not appear for quite some time. Cold coffee arrived, without spoons. It was returned and brought back heated in the microwave while new was put to brew. What? Anyway, the five of us resorted to sharing the bread and butter while licking our fingers and trying not to "double-dip."
Things got better as the food was ordered and the appetizer arrived. The flatware and napkins finally present, we were able to fully enjoy an extremely tasty blooming onion (or cactus or whatever this chain renamed the scored, battered and deep fried whole sweet onion).
The salads weren't bad and the little side of chili was nice. Meaty, with a thick tomato and bean sauce a shade spicy but not burning. Steak was the table option for the most part, and sirloin, rib eye and prime rib were all eaten with relish. Baked potato and loaded sweet potato (marshmallow, yum!) and herbed loose corn were also well received side items.
Overall, the food was very good and the service was okay. Dishes were not removed from the table and we quickly became crowded with empty cups and used plates. It took openly asking for removal before some of it cleared.
One last thing. This was also a birthday celebration for one of our party, and despite misgivings of the birthday matron, was persuaded to take part and park herself in the birthday saddle, twirling her napkin while the entire place gave her a big "Yee-Haw!" I will always be grateful to those fun loving and encouraging women who, out of the blue, helped make it a one of a kind moment for a "34" year old...
Read moreWhat a shame that you have to pay for to go order before you see it. At least in the restaurant, you get to see the food and know if you got what you ordered. Forget about how it tastes. I wanted to go out, but I can't currently. So, instead of fast food, we splurged on a restaurant takeaway.
Unpacking our dinner, the first thing I noticed was that the Onion Blossom had bloomed. It was limp and not one strip still standing. I had hoped it was the steam from the ride home in the container. It was a tough, chewy onion, and the breading was, in fact, oily but had good flavor. However, we didn't eat it.
One meal was chicken fried chicken. One side dish, loaded sweet potato was missing. But it was reported that the chicken and green beans were very good.
I tried to call. Apparently, the person answering can't yake messages. She asked if I wanted to talk to a manager or the "To Go" people. Whoever can handle a missing potato. She told me to hold. Then I realized I was being inconsiderate calling at a busy time. I hung up.
The second meal, chicken fried steak. Never again. Not one bite missed having a gristle in it. It may have been just my luck, but I couldn't eat it. I scraped off the chicken fried part, cut it up, and fed it to my two pups, who wanted more!
Now, if I ever want strawberry cheesecake, I know where to go. EXACTLY how I like it! Love ❤️ it! The other dessert was the brownie and ice cream and was enjoyed.
I don't think I'll eat here again. Only because I don't eat out or order out often. I love to cook, but some days, and as the weather gets warmer, I opt to pull out one of my pre-cooked meals. So, I don't normally give a second chance to a restaurant.
In closing and in my opinion, I think West Virginians are too forgiving to restaurants because there were so few to none for so long. We shouldn't accept bad or mediocre, especially from a chain AND not at...
