TLDR; restaurants dirty, prices don’t align with quality, manager has piss poor attitude, new ownership in the last year - DONT eat here
After a phone call to the manager, I believe her name is Kelly, it’s very clear the new ownership that’s taken over in the past year has driven this place to the ground. And the demeanor of the crew is show of it as well.
Called in a order for pickup. Estimated wait time was incorrect- this is to be expected from hostesses sometimes, it’s just an estimate happens in every single industry.
Ordered the bang bang shrimp, classic rueben, quimby burger WITH ketchup Mayo mustard, coleslaw side.
Upon arrival, there is a pungent musty mop water smell, you may recognize if you’ve worked in restaurant industry. Checking in at the counter, manager said she would grab someone to take payment and that they were “boxing it up right now”…. still waiting more 15mins later and someone pops out to say “it’s almost done”… which only gave more time to notice the restaurants cleanliness is lacking. Floors are not very clean.
The foods brought out and the boxes were very quickly displayed what was what-
Super noticeable quality- The bang bang shrimp ($13.99) only had 6 shrimp fairly small and barely breaded and lightly coated with the sauce. Apologized, said this quality was not expected and we would no longer like it. Server questioned the choice, then BEGRUDGINGLY gave a refund.
Noticed one small slice of tomato on the burger, had to ask for more. Got home, sat down to eat, noticed there was absolutely NO ketchup, Mayo, mustard. There was a small piece of lettuce that HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED. Rueben was lacking some TI dressing- that’s the least of the issues. Only thing good was the hand cut fries.
Called the restaurant back to make a notable complaint and gain and understanding. Manager says “we don’t put anything on the burgers unless asked” okay, exactly why were calling.. manager then asked server, while still on the phone, to verify if the customer requested the sauces, Manager says “well my server says you didn’t ask for it”.
Laughable. Not here to argue with a hostess or a waitress that may not remember her detail correctly or may not want to own up to a simple mistake because the serving industry is well- cutthroat nearly. Hell, I’d lie too if I made a simple mistake, it’s just food right?
Didnt ask for any further refunds or discounts or remakes; we really just called to make a notable complaint and gain understanding to as to why the prices have gone up and the quality is a mere fraction to what...
Read moreI was born and raised in Bedford and never once stepped foot into Quimby’s before. Ive heard new ownership, new updates, new this and that so I decided to give it a try and I wish I wouldn’t have. I now live in Charlotte, NC and I was in town visiting friends for the weekend and instead of going to Toledo we decided to stop in here for a drink and a few dishes to split. The salt and pepper man of a bartender was all fun and games until I ordered a simple shot of whiskey which he brought over, slammed down some food menus in front of us and never came back. I couldn’t tell you if the food was good or not because 45 min later we had yet to hear from the bartender, he keeps eyeballing us, chitchatting with some highschool girls working there and laughing but will not take our order or refill our drinks, remind you, we each ordered and drank 1 drink within that 45 min time span (and 1 shot for myself.) Since he wouldn’t take our drink/food order I about had enough and I proceeded to try and cash out so we could go elsewhere and spend our money. As dead as the bar was he refused to come check on us, but would check on the guys next to us and purposely not make eye contact with us and our empty cups and he chose to walk away as there was nobody else at the bar. I got up and walked to the other end of the bar where he was and asked for my bill since he wouldn’t come to us so we couldn’t order anything. He told me he would bring it to me and to go sit back down where I was, I thanked him and right in front of my face he proceeded to look over and whisper little bar secrets and all of these children looked at my friend and I and laughed. We are grown adults and this is childish in a place of business. As he brought over our check he wouldn’t give it to us until his cell phone stopped ringing but he had to obviously check it and text back first. My friend insisted we tip him but he wouldn’t have gotten a dime from me. I’m writing this to say please tell your bartender to grow up and stop acting like the young adults that work there. It’s not good for business and I will never go back. I will tell my family and friends who also own small businesses in the surrounding areas not to go there as there are better options with better customer service because clearly we were not welcome there. We initially came in to try a few things to see if Quimbys is who we were going to hire to cater her reception but thanks bartender, Quimbys isn’t...
Read moreWe've been going to Quimby's for almost a decade, including for anniversary dinners, and taken many friends and family there. We live in Temperance again now, but even when we lived in Seattle, we'd come back to see family for the summers and always come in--I told everyone that Quimby's was better than any expensive Seattle burger joint. And we love Forestview, so the recent acquisition didn't worry me. But it should have. Our date night yesterday evening was terrible. The menu was extremely confusing (please fix the 'sides' section, it made no sense and we couldn't tell which items were even one dish or 'premium' because of the line spacing, and my husband's menu pages were put in a different order than mine). And the new menu pricing is absolutely NUTS: To get an entree mac and cheese or alfredo with chicken, it's almost $20, and it's this awful system where EVERYTHING is an extra add-on for up to $7 just to add a protein to an otherwise cheap meal of bread/pasta.
Our side salads were literally spring mix with lots of rotting bits dumped on a plate. We sent them both back... and got the EXACT same spring mix with lots of rotting bits dumped on a plate. The burgers themselves were delicious (though my husband ordered his medium and it was definitely rare), but the one piece of lettuce on the burger was also wilted and close to rotting. The waitress was fine--she was attentive with refills and check-ins and we tipped her properly--but was unapologetic and disinterested in remedying our situation. Ultimately I didn't eat my salad and we paid full price for everything. Sadly, we will never go back and I'll never get my once-favorite burger again...
