The 4.0 over 112 reviews is fitting. I walked in, went to the restroom, walked out and bellied up to the bar. Behind the bar were 2 men talking at the other end (maybe 15 feet away.) one of them looked at me, and continued his obviously more important conversation. Then a woman appeared wearing a black t shirt, and a backwards hat from what may have either been the bathroom, or the kitchen. She proceeded to make small talk with the two ladies sitting 3 bar stools down from me, whipped her phone out, and continued her conversation. I sat There about 3-5 minutes under LITERALLY everyone’s nose without a greeting, drink order, or menu presented to me. Coming from the service industry for just shy of a decade, this place is atrocious. The ideology that I owe you something as a patron and you’re doing me a favor as an employee of an establishment that SOMEONE ELSE started is dead and gone. Being a bartender is about service and being attentive and caring to the people that keep your lights on. This place could literally burn down and it wouldn’t move me. One… bit.
Revision- I came over to the Thirsty Turtle. There’s exactly 14 people at the bar. Each person has a drink, food, and everything they need. I sat down at the bar and was greeted in under 10 seconds. Bev nap in front of me and a menu handed to me as well. Introduced himself and was incredibly friendly. Either come to the Thirsty Turtle or LITERALLY anywhere else in the city if you’d like good service. Additionally, the place smells like cigarette smoke and...
Read moreWe figured we would try it out. It was deserted when we walked in, except for the one server. This was around 3:00 and we figured it was just a little early for the evening rush. We picked a booth. All the cushions in the booths are worn and would snag certain fabrics. Thankfully I was wearing jeans. Likewise, the cushions were worn down to the point that they sit lower than the booths edges and the edge was digging into the back of my legs. There were two menus, one for each side of the building (two businesses sharing a roof). Italian or sandwiches. I chose Italian, he chose a sandwich. Both were disappointing and we felt like we overpaid. The ladies restroom has seen a lot of traffic and needs paint and repairs. Walking away we felt like the place is hanging on by a thread. I'm sorry, but we have no intentions...
Read moreI've been here once before, 3 yrs ago, but I didn't sit on the restaurant side. We went here for dinner tonight & the service was TERRIBLE. There were only 2 people sitting at the main bar & 2 other people in the booths. The bartender was our waitress, I ordered the Ceasar salad & asked to add grilled chicken. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti & meatballs. His food came out, & looked good. Mine came out without chicken, so she took it back & said it'll only take 7 minutes for the chicken. When she brought it back, she noticed she forgot to give us silverware, so we had to wait again. It wasn't THAT busy, so I'm not sure why she was so "off." I will say the other side of the bar with the pool tables was busy, but they usually have a separate bartender over there. We definitely...
