Tonight we had a disappointing experience for the second time at this location. 2 out of 3 times and the same result. My wife can't eat much at one sitting and she doesn't love BBQ anyway, she goes for me. She orders the child's plate because she can't eat that much and definitely can't eat 2 sides and the plate. They inform because she's over 12 they can only serve the sandwich plate without the bun and it's the same portion as the kids plate. But the sandwich plate comes with 2 sides and is almost $5.00 more than the child's plate that she can't even finish. Once again I ordered what I wanted, once again I paid for the sandwich plate, but that was the last time. The first time the owner reached out to me and apologized and even sent me a gift card so we would try again. When we went back it seemed the issue had been resolved. Tonight the same thing and the general manager stood right there and confirmed it. This is not an all you can eat place, I don't see why that portion of food with only one side should cost more if the person eating it is over 12. I guess next time I'll call in a to-go order and then sit down and eat what we ordered which will be a child's plate with one side and my 2 meat plate with a loaded baked potato. Apparently age and appearance matter more than having a satisfied customer. I know I'll never convince my wife to go there again so I guess it won't happen. But the food is great, I would suggest ordering what you want by phone and then going in to eat unless you want to be charged according to...
Read moreEDIT: When I originally posted this review, it was a simple 4 Star review with no comment. If I had left a comment, it probably would have been something like, "Good BBQ for the price." And would have left it like that. But then something interesting happened. Within an hour of me posting my simple uncritical review with no words, I got a response from the owner thanking me for my review and inviting me to return. In that moment I felt very appreciated. It also took me back to earlier that evening and I remembered how nice, kind, and attentive every member of the staff was, even though it was quite busy in the restaurant. I remembered my eight year old daughter just over the moon about her ribs and saying she wanted to have her birthday party there. I remembered my four year old son munching happily on his brisket and gleefully trying everything we put in front of him. I remembered seeing my wife across the table with her brisket sandwich topped high with extra pickles and onions and smiling at me. I remembered a pleasant family dinner. When I saw that comment from the owner, I knew the appreciation of our visit and the invitation to return was genuine, because I experienced it during our meal. For all those reasons I knew I needed to elevate this review to five stars. Spring Creek Barbeque is a good...
Read more6 stars. Hi everybbqbody! Who reading loves good Texas BBQ? If so, read on. I have two wood offset smokers. One pellet, one old-school drum. I smoke meat. I'm the guy that smokes 12 hrs. Picky.
Okay, so I also love a good deal. Valpak comes in the mail bearing bogos. One is usually Spring Creek. Buy a rib or brisket dinner, and get one free.
The ribs? Slow smoked, fall off the bone tender. The sauce is thick, rich, and savory. Get the marbled brisket. Even that fat is wondrously delish.
Let you in on a secret. Orderthe fried okra. The perfect way to get your vegetable, but as if you are eating a garden-grown dessert. Lightly battered, seasoned the way you would at home in Mississippi. Okra is worth the trip by itself.
The team members are cheerful and move that line. The spot is clean and comfy.
The other gem is hot, yeasty rolls fresh out of the oven. The servers comes around every so often with fresh rolls so grab a bit of butter while in line. I usually get a dozen to go,and wrap them in Saran cling wrap in groups of 4. They freeze well, and reheat like day 1. Make sure you cop a dozen. Thank me later.
6 stars if you ask me. In this economy finding spots that give out bogos on food worth paying double is unheard of. Get the App for the same deals on...
