The other day I was having a Matcha with some friends at Green Nest cafe, a very cozy establishment serving great coffee and other cafe beverages. The owner of Green Nest is a very friendly and hospitable lady, who once allowed me to bring outside food into the cafe, as I was unaware it was against the rules. Now in this instance from the other day, which happened to be the blessed Islamic holiday of Eid, the cafe owner’s Husband comes to my table and asks my friends and I if we liked fried chicken. It struck me as odd he would approach a table of young folks in Muslim attire - thobes, kufis, the like - and ask such random a question.
Do you guys like fried chicken?
After cracking some jokes with my friends and the cafe owner’s husband I will not repeat here, he reveals he owns the restaurant next door, Mighty Chick’s, and that they serve Halal Fried Chicken. We laugh off the conversation and go our ways, but in truth, I was left Intrigued. So I decided to come back several days later to try some menu options.
It is safe to say I will be coming back regularly.
Today was my first time in the establishment. I had a Nashville Sando. It was incredible. From somebody who frequents hot chicken chains such as Dave’s and Ricky’s, this was a life changing experience. The freshness of the slaw, the fluffy brioche, the tender bite of the chicken thigh - which was Halal! - all came together in a conglomerate explosion of flavor.
But it wasn’t the menu that brought me into this restaurant. It was the service, the efforts of inclusivity and thoughtfulness of the business - of the owner - who brought me in. Had he not made a point of sourcing Halal chicken, and then approaching the group of young and very clearly Muslim individuals, I wouldn’t have stepped into that store. It wasn’t merely marketing; it was telling me and those around me - “hey, I care about serving people like you, I will go out of my way to do so, and make it known.”
Do you guys like fried chicken? If it’s Mighty Chick’s, I do.
I pray for the success of these business. And I urge everyone who lives in the vicinity to come support your local businesses. Let’s take some money out from the big restaurant corporations, and into our local uncles and...
Read moreHidden in the back of a small plaza is a genuine gem of the chicken sandwich world with Korean fusion flavors. The very same team that worked the amazing Mighty Chick in DFW are in action with a quick-service option focused on chicken sandwiches and small bites like wings, tenders, and karage nuggets. They serve alcohol as well which include beers and soju.
Nashville Sando - A Nashville hot chicken that's a bit lighter on the vinegar, but still heavy with flavor. They add vinegar cabbage and fresh pickle slices on their sandwiches which add a nice cleansing crunch. Option of heat from 1-4. A level 2 is nice to a bit of heat without hurting.
Sweet & Spicy Sando - A sweet and spicy sauce accompanies this sandwich and a bit of garlic flavor as well. The cabbage and pickles here help to round out the sweet sauces' flavors for a party in your mouth.
Fries/Sweet Potato Fries - Solid size fries on par with what you'd find in restaurants. Not quite steak fries and not as small as stuff from other fast food services. Perfect accompaniments to the monster sized sandwiches.
Onion Rings - The rings here are reminiscent of the type you'd get from places like Carl's Jr or Hardee's, but much better. Onions properly give way when you bite into it and the breading is perfect. Pure unadulterated joygasms.
It's good to note that all the chicken sandwiches use chicken thighs so the dark meat is really flavorful and juicy. Fried chicken is very similar to what you'd find at a Lawsons or Family Mart's chicken from Japan. They're absolutely delicious. All in all this is definitely a spot to try. Quick and friendly service with amazing food on par with sit down...

Everything is made from scratch! Food is tender, crunchy and tasty. Best cole slaw and i dont even like slaw!! Sweet, tangy and crunchy. The Kimchi chicken fries is a must!! Crunchy fries, chicken tender pieces, sauce (don't know the exact sauces) and kimchi and jalapeño 😋 it's VERY delicious!! One of the best items! Everything I've tasted is good.
Chicken menu flavors... they have everything for everyone. For spice, Go Nashville or Seoul Hot. Seoul Hot is basically Gochujang (korean pepper paste). Sweet, Spicy and so much flavor... my most favorite so far.
The extra sauce in the side isn't necessary. That's how delicious the food is. They put so much love, care into their product. PLEASE come support KG and his wife. This store is their baby and they would appreciate the support. They deserve it. Theyre the nicest, sweetest, and most professional business owners I've met. They're very attentive and patient to gie the most excellent service. It feels like a family here.
Also, PLEASE also support their coffee shop GREEN NEST CAFE next door. They have really good quality coffee plus unique menu with an Asian twist. These two restaurants are the best food and service I've had in a long time. Come...
