I recently had the pleasure of visiting Das Bierhalle in Bel Air, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. As a beer enthusiast, I've been to many breweries and beer halls around the world, but Das Bierhalle stands out as an exceptional destination for anyone looking to have a fantastic time surrounded by great beer, delicious food, and an incredible atmosphere.
Upon entering Das Bierhalle, I was immediately greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance. The rustic decor, with its wooden furnishings and traditional German accents, creates an authentic and cozy feel. The attention to detail in recreating the classic beer hall atmosphere is truly commendable.
Now, let's talk about the beer selection. Das Bierhalle boasts an extensive and impressive variety of both local and international beers. From lagers and ales to stouts and IPAs, they have something to please every beer aficionado. The knowledgeable staff was more than happy to guide me through their diverse offerings and make recommendations based on my preferences. Their passion for beer was evident, and it added to the overall experience.
The food at Das Bierhalle is nothing short of exceptional. The menu features a mouthwatering array of German-inspired dishes, from bratwurst and schnitzel to pretzels and sauerkraut. Each dish is expertly prepared, bursting with flavor, and pairs perfectly with their beer selection. The portions are generous, ensuring no one leaves hungry. Don't miss their house-made mustards and pickles; they are the perfect accompaniment to the savory delights.
Service at Das Bierhalle deserves special recognition. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing an unforgettable experience. They were prompt in taking orders, delivering food and drinks with a smile, and ensuring that guests were well taken care of. The genuine warmth and hospitality exhibited by the staff contribute to the overall positive ambiance of the place.
Another noteworthy aspect of Das Bierhalle is their commitment to hosting events and live entertainment. From live music performances to themed nights, there's always something exciting happening at this establishment. These events add a dynamic and lively energy to the already vibrant atmosphere and make every visit a unique and memorable experience.
In conclusion, Das Bierhalle in Bel Air is a beer lover's paradise. It offers an extensive beer selection, delectable food, impeccable service, and an atmosphere that transports you to the heart of Germany. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to the area, I highly recommend paying a visit to Das...
Read moreFood: My wife got some kind of sausage (I don't remember) and it came out dry and shriveled. Also ordered mashed potatoes that were dry and little flavor. I ordered the Weinerschnitzel Entree with an egg sunny side up. Meat was rubbery and the egg was cold (not hot, not warm....cold). I don't know how you do this, but the egg had no flavor to it either. Imagine breaking open a cold, flavorless, sunny side up egg on top of a Weinerschnitzel. Spaetzel was dry and NO flavor whatsoever.
Beer: Really large selection. I only ordered one beer and it was somewhat cold.
Crushes: I guess this is their "bread and butter". They have a ton of different flavored crushes for cheap. It meets expectations. A bunch of pre-mixed flavored sugar with alcohol added. You shouldn't expect any hand-made flavors or fresh ingredients.
Service: We sat at the bar. Service wasn't horrible and we didn't feel neglected, but nothing exceptional either. It was busy, but the bartenders seemed to be on top of things. Not bad.
Atmosphere: I've seen other reviews that have said the same thing: it gets loud in there. I don't mind loud bars and I think it's part of the expected atmosphere, but at times, it seemed unusually loud. I found myself shouting to my wife as if we're in the middle of a concert and she's only one foot away from me. The place also seems to have an identity crisis. 95% of the population probably won't care about this, but it doesn't feel like you're entering some German Restaurant. Feels like just a rebranding of the last bar that came before you.
Overall: I want to like this place, but my food experience was a big disappointment. I've seen other comments about the beer not being cold enough and I want to think there may be something to those comments. If beer is your thing, you need to figure out what's going on with your beer temps. If German food is your thing, you need to have real German food, not something that feels like it came out of a box. We usually spend over $150 when we go out for dinner (it's hard not to, these days), but our bill was under $80. That sounds great, but it's not. After that meal, we just wanted to leave...no extra drinks, no nothing. If you don't know German food, that's okay too. I think you can drastically improve with better ingredients. To sum it all up, if the food wasn't so disappointing, Das Bierhalle in Bel Air would easily be...
Read moreWife and I decided to try the Bel Air location for lunch today (11/30/23). Friendly and efficient front staff. Excellent draft Bier/Beer selection.
We're both greatly disappointed in the food though. We decided to try the Veal Schnitzel BLT and we were both unimpressed. We were both drooling in anticipation when our sandwich arrived with a very large thin Veal Schnitzel Cutlet hanging beyond the sourdough bread on all sides (except for the diagonal cut making two halves). Our first bite was extremely disappointing.
First the sandwich is labeled a BLT, so that means you should get some of everything in each bite. Nope, that didn't happen; this large sandwich had a single slice of tomato for the whole sandwich exactly in the center (so 1/2 slice on each half of sandwich). Not nearly enough aioli (fancy flavored mayo) to taste, so the sandwich was dry and we had to use plain mayonnaise packets to add more mayo. Next a BLT should have crunchy lettuce (iceberg or romaine lettuce) on it; instead they used delicate Spring Mix which wilted against the Hot veal cutlet making for a very soggy texture. Now that beautiful herb crusted Veal Schnitzel Cutlet was bland because there was a lack of salt and pepper used to season the meat prior to cooking.
Last disappointment was the French Fries which were really undercooked and unseasoned as well.
If this place was busting at the seams with customers you might understand, but it wasn't that busy. Plus one should never cut corners when it comes to food quality and that's the exact impression our first (possibly only) visit imprinted on our minds.
So a very terrible...
