Savona - Fine Italian Foods and Wine — Restaurant in Bel Air

All I can say is, the owner, Maria, treats her customers horribly if they're not satisfied with the food and/or service. Recently I purchased a turkey avocado salad and upon getting it home within the hour & siting down to eat,I found that all of the turkey was lunchmeat ends & turkey skins with NO White Meat whatsoever & the avocado was brown. I called into the store immediately & spoke with Alyse & shared my concerns & even told her I would bring it back. She told me that wasn't necessary & assured me she would make it up on the following Monday, I called Alyse today, (Monday) & told her I couldn't make it in & that I really didn't want another salad because I later found hair in the bottom of the salad. I have had problem in the past with trying to resolve issues with the owner and tried on different occasions to give it another chance. For the most part I was happy with what I've gotten there but when I find the food is slipping and get a bad meal, I point it out and she gets offended & fights with you instead of making it right, Well, this eve, she basically told me not to come back & she would not be refunding me. I am appalled at the way she treats people.....always on the defensive & making excuses. On another note, (aside from a few other incidences) I bought a bottle of wine there for $10 which I really enjoyed, I went back the following week & couldn't find it so I gave her the name so she could look into it. Soon thereafter, she restocked it and hiked the price up to $14. I call that GREED. The same greed she showed me this eve for not wanting to refund me for an $11 salad with lunch meat end, skins, brown avocado & hair in it. It's not the money for me, it is the principle if it & the fact that we do what we can to support small businesses & this is how they treat you. Needless, to say I won't be going back...I just think people should know the negative side of a business who cares more about the money than the quality of food that they're serving & how they handle the negatives when customers aren't satisfied with...

I ordered a take-out meal for a close family member who lost her husband last week. I wanted to bring her lunch, because I knew that her husband had gone into hospice "in their home", and passed away, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, and there was probably no food in her residence. I went online and read the reviews and decided to pick up a lunch from Savonna. I ordered the Roma Panini with extra meat, the turkey and avocado salad with dressing "on the side", Arizona Iced Tea, Pellegrino water, and 4 cannoli. She was not home when I brought the lunch to her home, so I left it with a note and a sweet card letting her know to reach out to me if she needs anything. She called me in tears to let me know, that this was the "best sandwich that she has ever had in her life" and that she had not eaten anything in the last couple days, and just then, realized how hungry she was. She thought the salad was exceptional and raved about the cannoli! Thank you so much to the Savonna team that took my order, made suggestions, and had it ready quickly. Hands down the best sandwich spot/deli in Bel Air. Unique flavors and high quality ingredients make all the difference, and you can easily tell when you taste anything from Savona. Not sure what this 1 star reviewer is talking about, but I have been going to Savona for nearly a decade. In that time my order has only been messed up 1 time, and a minor error at that. I called the store and spoke with the owner Maria just to let her know, not even wanting a replacement. Maria would not accept no for an answer, and assured me to stop back by on my next opportunity. I had my girlfriend stop by a week later, and Maria gave her a free replacement panini to bring home for me, as well as gave us a huge delicious loaf of bread that we literally fed 8 people with.
