I debated whether to leave a review. It's generally not my style. But after seeing so many reviews with similar experiences with no changes to operation, I'm compelled to.
Upon seeing the menu had no prices, we should have walked out immediately. I wish we had. My partner and I spent $65 on a breakfast sandwich, grits & eggs, two coffees, and a pastry. We live in the portland area, I have worked in restaurants for 20 years, and have never seen prices like this. Shame on the owner for continuing these practices. It's dirty and dishonest.
My grits were good, though definitely not worth the $22 spent on it. My partner's breakfast sandwich, at $23, was barely edible. The pastry we got was undercooked and had raw batter in the middle. When I brought it back, the woman (I believe the owner) told me she would get us another. When she returned, she said they would all be like that. Though they did refund the pastry, the young woman at the register was rude and rolled her eyes at me. My partner and I could hear them scoffing about it while we ate. Feeling super uncomfortable, we got out of there as soon...
Read moreI absolutely love this gem of an eatery in downtown Belfast! It's everything you want in your hometown bakery and favorite breakfast spot ~ the friendliest staff that remember you when you frequent there, an exquisite menu that has something for every palate, and plenty of grab and go treats for the road. I love recommending this spot for tourists and locals alike because the food is so reliably good! I was sad when I wasn't able to dine there for a whole winter when my husband fell ill, and when healing came and life returned as normal in the Spring my first stop was Crumbs ~ and to my utter delight I was greeted like an old friend, and the owner even remembered my liking for her gluten free muffins. This is a very special place in the most beautiful of east coast towns, and its name is rather amusing because whatever you end up ordering ... you're not going to want to leave a...
Read moreI live a few blocks from here so I’ve been several times over the last six months or so. The food is always delicious, with interesting daily pastry specials and good coffee. The breakfast biscuit sandwich is amazing. So why 3 stars? Because every time I’ve been here it takes f o r e v e r to get my order, even if I’m the only one in there. And today, the last straw (no pun intended) was I ordered an orange juice for the first time and was served a small plastic cup filled barely halfway. When I asked the server why it was such a skimpy serving, she replied that it’s because they don’t use ice... ok I’ve never ordered a $3 fresh juice that came with ice. That’s just an industry standard. What isn’t an industry standard is filling someone’s cup only halfway. The other women behind me in line joked that I’d been served a 1960’s portion size.
TLDR: good food,...
