Sorry to be Captain downer but...after entering Traci's where COVID mask protocols are required no one was wearing masks except the staff....as expected...it is hard to eat in a mask. One staffer was engaged in a long conversation with two patrons not wearing masks. The staff person who seated us wore her mask but under under her nose. After being seated indoors in a room with unmasked people we were presented with an unofficial slip of paper without any official State of Maine policy explanationthat required us to provide our names, address, email and phone information to be gathered for the CDC. I declined to sign and was told I couldn't eat there if I didn't fill out the questionare as it was the Maine Governors policy... (not true) and so I left. To witness the hilarity of protocols that couldn't possibly keep anyone safe was nearly insulting enough but the near peek of insults I thought was having to fill out a questionare before I could PAY for a meal prepared and served by people who aren't required to prove their COVID free status to the patrons of Traci's but what was really the insult that put me over the edge was that people in the diner actually submitted to this non-offical policy without question! What's next Traci...you can't get a ham, cheese, tomato omelet without a tatooed bar code on your arm? I could have used a phony name and numbers as I'm sure some people will... but then how accurate and valuable would this information provided presumably to the CDC be? I live in Maine and have eaten out quite a bit since the COVID protocols have been in place and Traci's Diner is the ONLY place that has presented a questionare that must be signed before you can eat. I ate there last week because I had early business in town as I did today and thought the food adequate enough to patronize Traci's once again rather than getting a breakfast burrito at McDonalds but on my first visit I was not refused service for an unwillingness to sign a questionare. There won't be a third visit...
Read moreThe wait staff was very rude. Had a good issue with another customer and was making rude comments abut the customer to other staff in front of customers. Walked in with no mask and was seated ate and listened to the staff complain and whine about customers. After eating the internet went down and we had to wait 25 mins to pay. Finally when we could pay and the owner I guess told me to put a mask on and I told her I didn't have one and I forgot my ticket at the table and walked back and got it when I returned to pay she got very very rude and told me to put a mask on and I explained again I didn't have one. So a nice lady behind the counter opened a box to give me one and the owner told me she was gonna charge me a dollar a mask. She said there was signs on the door and we just missed them simple mistake. But we was still seated and served with no masks and never told to wear a mask to the table. And I told her no and pay for my food and left. She could handled this in a way better way. So I'll save my money for another small business where the people are friendly and professional. If you want people to wear a mask in your place then have a Box of masks at the door. We was on hike and didn't bring a mask to...
Read moreHonestly, we really wanted to like this place because it was recommended by our amazing Inn, but immediately upon arrival the servers treated us like we were an inconvenience. We shrugged it off thinking maybe it was the one server having a bad day, however it was apparent that every server we asked for help(because no one came by to check on us) that they were annoyed to help for example, asking for an extra side plate or another coffee.
Now before people get defensive, I listened to how the servers interacted with the other patrons and they were so cheerful and pleasant. Even when I went up to pay the bill, I was ignored blatantly and treated like I was there to annoy them. My tip reflected this rude behavior , and I could have tipped nothing, but they received less than 10% of a $135 bill instead of my usual 20%.
Needless to say we will never recommend this to anyone, especially if you have even a slight tinge of melanin...
