I mean… you have to appreciate what this bodega is trying to do… and I love every bit of it… Boars Head al la mode…. To be honest, I think the grill area should be bigger bc the food is so great, they can do so much more if they had more space… With that being said I had a sample of the lasagne, solid 8 out of 10……. Super good …..And I had the chop cheese with smoked Gouda cheese.. I asked for no peppers and I wanted extra grilled onions… What I got was peppers and maybe a little of onions…. Complete opposite of what I asked for… But the sandwich did what it was supposed to do…. 4 out of 10 … That score is bc the amount of grease that was soaked into that bread… I have ate chop cheese a billion times from bodegas in NY and hands down this one was the most greasy one that I have ever ate.. I guess bc the person working the grill doesn’t know to scrap the grease off the grill as the meat produces it from being cooked… I only really got to eat 2 bites before I handled it to my uncle and he himself couldn’t eat it …. If the sandwich wasn’t overloaded and soggy from grease, it would have been a solid 8 out of 10.. It was grease overload times a billion… the bread was soaked heavy with grease..I will be in Florida for two years bc of work and while I am here, I will always come to this bodega.. The owners are super nice…....
Read moreWoW I am literally a native to this part of town, I grew up here in this area. Since I was 4, I am 41. Never ordered food from this bodega, been in many times for drinks, snacks, joint papers and such but never even thought about trying the food, shame on me. Today, I finally checked it out. I ordered a 12' Philly as that is my go to at any food /deli shop. I was surprised to see empanadas; jamaican patties; pastas and wings..also breakfast sandwiches and so many different types of hot and cold subs/sandwiches. I was super impressed with my Philly. It was huge. It was fresh. Love when a sandwich shop knows how to package a sub- wrapped up in paper then placed in a paper sleeve, before I opened my Philly I already knew I was in for a treat. Then, I sat outside and opened it and wow, cheese was melted nicely, it had grease but not overpowering but enough to know how fresh my sandwich was made. They offer a free little bag of chips and a can of soda with all their sandwich orders. The gentleman that took my order and made my sandwich was very attentive and nice. I enjoyed my sub very much and certainly looking forward to trying a lot of other stuff in the near future. If you like good fresh food and at a decent price go check out Rays Deli! Thank you Rays Deli for your service...

Upon entering you will be struck by whatever is on the grill, and you can see a deli case with Boar's Head Meats and cold salads. Boar's Head? What? Then, when you meander past the vast collection of snacks and drink coolers, you make your way to where the magic happens. There you will find a short order cook ready to make you something fresh off the grill. Where else can you get mac and cheese better than your grandma's along with a whole host of comfort food that changes daily. You'll find handmade empanadas and killer Jamaican style beef patties, among other ready to eat delights. Brisket sammiches? Yep! Meatball subs? Some of the best around! I still haven't discovered everything in this place. Every time I go I have a new experience. Call in a Bacon Egg and Cheese Breakfast sub on your way to work. It will be...
