I'm not really happy with my visit. Waitress seemed like she had some issues. Walked past our table several times to go to an empty table and seemed lost. She may have had some kind of medical issue and I am not trying to be rude but just stating the facts. When she did come to our table, she sat down in our booth beside me (where there wasn't even enough room to sit). I had to move over to give her room to sit because she was right up against me. It's a little odd and unprofessional. She proceeded to take our order while sitting in our booth. When our food arrived, my friends order was wrong. She did not speak up and say anything. I did not either, but I wasn't too happy with the food itself as the potatoes were kind of a dark, funky color and tasted instant. The gravy tasted canned. The meat and bread was ok. I had open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. Seemed a little odd that this didn't come with a side vegetable but it was listed under hot sandwiched like Philly cheese steak and the kind of sandwiched you get fries with and pick up and eat with your hands. In my opinion, this item should have come with a side other than mashed potatoes. This kind of sandwich should have been under a different category where you get a vegetable with it. So the meal was $10.29. I had water, so that was my full bill. When she brought the receipt, it was $13.66, and I questioned the waitress on why it was that much? She pointed to a sign up on a wall (between rows of booths, out of sight because it was above eye level) that there is a fee for using my debit card. Put the sign on the table where it is visible. I did not see this until after she had already ran my card. On the handwritten receipt, it was not legible, and the fee didn't say anything except the $1.99, which I thought was zeros because i had water. From what I have been told, fees should not be charged on debit cards. The fee was approx. $1.99 on a bill under $11 with the tax included. This is almost 20% and sounds awful high for that amount. 🤷🏼♀️ I was just turned off by the whole experience. I have been there a couple of times before, and it was ok, and I don't remember any fees. I will not go...
Read moreUpdate 9/12/2025; Oh well, I have tried and tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but it's over, when I ordered eggs over medium with hash and hash browns it came out with the egg whites 75% raw, when I put my fork in it the raw egg ran all over the plate into the other food, after about 10 minutes the server helper took my card and the check to pay the tab, never asked why not one bite eatten, then the server finally asked if everything was OK??? She took my plate to replace the breakfast, I thought, she took it in the kitchen and scraped the eggs off the plate and brought the plate back to the table and said the new eggs would be right out, 8 min later I was give two eggs on a plate and told "hopefully these are better" so now I had an ice cold breakfast and toast plate (which is still covered in raw egg) and two eggs on a side plate, never did take a single bite, this is the third and (final time) I paid full price for a meal that I could not consume, this place is so hot and cold on service and food quality lately, unfortunately I am going to have to give up on this place, to bad because when they do it right the food and service is good, I did like most of the servers, but to many times as of late it has not been on point.
Update 7/8/2025; I gave Mary's another try after taking a break from here for a while, the ladies are very pleasant as always, and I will say I've dined here twice since last review and the food is back to being good, glad they fixed whatever it was, only reason I keep updating is because I like this place and want the meal quality to stay good...
Updated 5/2025, Don't know what happened here but something changed for the worse, I suspect a new cook... last two visits the food was terrible, biscuits and gravy had dry almost stale biscuits, hash and eggs...the hash was burnt eggs over cooked and even the toast was cold and stale, I've been a loyal customer for a long time now but I'm gonna give this place a break, ashamed because the food has been consistently good til recent, hope they can fix the problem, love the servers here but they never offer any solution to the problem, just a sorry...
Read moreMary's Place is just you're good down home cooking! Located in the heart of Belleview in a quaint little Motel with a No-Frills Ambiance in this restaurant the food says it all. We had breakfast consisting of pecan Belgian waffles, country grits, amazing Homestyle biscuits and gravy along with eggs sausage and hash browns. Servers were very attentive always right there filling your coffee and making sure you are enjoying your meal. The menu also consisted of many home cooked country food options and specials you don't find anywhere else. It was our first time there but they were very busy and you could tell they had a lot of loyal local customers. Open for breakfast and lunch up to 2 p.m. it may have been our first time there but it will definitely not be our last. You should definitely try you won't be disappointed! Update Memorial Day Weekend 2018 we have now been going to Mary's Place almost every weekend since my first review. We always sit in Courtney section and she is nothing less than fantastic! We have tried many different items on the menu and have never been disappointed! This to me is amazing because I can be real critical when it comes to food. Unfortunately they are only open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. otherwise we would probably grab dinner there a couple nights a week. Their prices, quality and quantity of food, and all around welcoming attitude and service is refreshing. Thought I would give this a little update it is now October 11th and unfortunately my health has taken a disastrous turn for the worst but I was scrolling through my pictures and wanted to post some of the ones I forgot to. We still get take out but miss being there in person but hopefully we will be there soon seeing everybody's...
