I can understand that some people are or have been unhappy with their experience here. I have the same feelings about other places myself. However, I ordered the Spicy Chicken and it was, not hot in heat but pleasing in taste. It was abundant in breaded chicken pieces, bite sized at that as there were very few vegetables added, a necessity for lower priced entrees, in this dish. I would have been more than satisfied if I only had half the rice (cup over pint) as I only wanted enough of that to absorb some of the coating of the chicken. For something that I have never ordered before, I was quite pleased. An added delight during non-peak periods and when he's available is their young son who will ring up your order. His conduct would put many adults to shame. I think it's also important to note that ingredients/flavorings/preparation vary fro business to business so keep searching until you find a place that pleases you. They have been around for many years and it says something about their quality in that they are still thriving in a nearly deserted shopping plaza. While they too may disappoint me one day, they haven't yet if my latest purchase is...
Read moreMy husband picked up the food and after our terrible experience at China King we were scared to buy Chinese food in Illinois again, however we read the reviews and China Town restaurant sounded good. I liked their menu options. They had Chicken Mei Fun something I haven't found to often on Chinese menus. I was excited so I ordered that, along with my usual Chicken and Broccoli, Chicken Egg Foo Young, Chicken Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken and something we had never tried before Blackened Pepper Chicken. They were all delicious. Large portions. They didn't skimp on the rice, or the chicken. What was even better, was that you could easily identify all the ingredients. No mystery meat. No celery fillers in place of the main ingredients. China Town Restaurant had salted and flavored everything well and it wasn't greasy. China King should take a lesson from this restaurant and their Chef. China Town thank you for making our Chinese food great. The only downside was they were busy and this the order took very long to make but it was...
Read moreThis is my favorite Chinese, eating here since I was a child. This is is not a China King, this is the real deal. Yes there is a young man working the check out counter and to go’s. I don’t know the issue people have, teens work in the restaurant industry anywhere you go. He gets my order right and gives me correct change, I’m not sure what more people expect. There is a slight language barrier and when that happens people feed off energy, maybe people are upset for exposing their own energy. The crab Rangoon isn’t as sweet as most that’s true. But everything including the CR is delicious. Things I would recommend; Fried rice Chicken sticks Hot sour soup Hot tea if your dining in Literally any entree
It is not a dangerous area, the area is undergoing redevelopment and I hope it continues to thrive...
