The food was delicious, but service was very slow. Long wait for server to take our food order after we were seated (never asked for a drink order, btw). Waited about half an hour for our food to arrive- we were discussing leaving and going someplace else when it showed up in the knick of time. The food was very delicious, albeit lukewarm, so I would assume it had been ready for a bit before it was brought out. The brussel sprouts were supposed to have pork in them, and unless there were microscopic bacon bits in them there was not, nor were there any pickles with my sandwich as the menu stated. We might have asked about this, but we didn't see our server again for over 45 minutes. We had been staring at our leftovers for nearly half an hour when she finally checked in on us and asked if was wanted to-go boxes. I asked what the "seasonal dessert" was, she didn't know and said she'd ask, but I guess she forgot because when she came back another 10 minutes later, all she did was hand us boxes (without the check) and flitted away. After another 10 or so minutes of waiting for the check that never came, my husband went up to the bar and asked for it. There was clearly a party with lots of kids going on upstairs, our server was running all over the place between the front patio and making drinks at the bar, and while the main floor of the place wasn't packed it was still busy, so slower food service was completely understandable. But we were there for a full hour longer than we wanted to be because we were waiting for boxes and a check. And I never did find out what the "seasonal dessert" was. Also, if people are going to be left unattended for long stretches, please serve water in larger glasses than a...
Read moreSolid service, tasty drinks and snacks, and a very cozy space. Grüv is in the same building as the old Wine Tap and benefits from a charming historic downtown Belleville building with exposed brick, unique features, a peek into a spooky old basement, and a brick pizza oven. The patio is my favorite feature of the joint and I'm excited to return in the summer to soak in some rays with friends and cocktails.
I made my first visit on a Wednesday night after dinner with a few friends. We arrived later in the evening and saw the crowd dwindle out. The patio is covered (early April) and glowing outdoor heaters are spaced out. We had a table right beside the brick oven pizza and watched the coals burn out while we sipped on our martinis.
They offer specials throughout the week, so we enjoyed buy-one-get-one half-off martinis and ordered a flatbread margherita pizza to share. The pizza wasn't special, but it filled our bellies. The drinks were well-made, unique,...
Read moreSome friends and I stopped by for drinks and had an awful experience. When asked for our Id’s (which are definitely real) we were accused of having fake Id’s by the server rudely. He continues to take our order and serves us, and stops by later to (again rudely) tell us to drink our one drink and leave because we’re not 21. We called over the owner/manager to tell her that our server was very rude and just told us to leave, she laughs and says supposedly the bartender told the server not to serve us right when we walked in, because we were underage (without looking at our Id’s)??? A bit unprofessional and pre-judgmental if you ask me. I guess I’ll take it as a compliment we all look so young. Will not be back as I had a rude server who mis-charged me a precious visit. Perhaps the staff needs to be better trained to not assume and be able to tell if...
