So today I was craving an empanada and finally made it to the little corner of Steel Craft here in Bellflower and decided to give them a taste and write about my experience as always to help give back to where I’m visiting on my page. While looking at menu the young lady offered me a sample to try out which was good…so Yes let’s do this!
Well I ordered their all meat empanada and also a spicer meat filling empanada that was suggested for me to try since it’s very popular here the young lady at the register helped me with that choice. Paired with my grandfathers favorite drink “Sangria”. I placed my order and was given a buzzard to have while order was being made.
Took a few picture notice a few orders that were being picked up and also phone in orders…good sign
When I was buzzed for my order I was ready but before I left I still needed my drink …she was forgetting to give to me and also I noticed I didn’t have any chimichurri …For those who know you need this savory sauce to compliment a traditional Argentinian stable… but to some it may be spicy for others it’s an outstanding burst of garlic olive oil and fresh herbs and chili that bring out and Empanada to its next level…like a party in your mouth!
To my surprise the Empanadas were deep fried not baked and recalling someone mentioned if you wanted them baked call your order ahead of time for that…
Both of the empanadas were very tasty. To be honest a bit salty but it could have been the chimichurri I added, overall very delicious. I did enjoy the flavor of the spicy meat Empanada that was definitely my favorite.
So if you’re looking for something Argentinian to enjoy while visiting Beautiful Bellflower please come on over to “Steel Craft “ where you’ll find Un Rinconcito Argentino they have many different types of Empanadas and other menu options to try along...
Read moreLet's start with the cons: parking can potentially suck, especially if you come on a busy evening.
Now that's out of the way, let's get to ALL the pros: -Ambiance. Only once prior have I ever been to a similar sort of place. The layout has several eateries surrounding long benches and a small astroturf area, much like a really cool backyard. I went mid-afternoon and it wasn't too busy. There was a painting class going on, taking up some of the benches.
Rinconcito Argentino is quite literally in the corner, in front of the turf area. I was recommended the place by a friend, who had the misfortune of telling me about it, while he was hungry, and basically gave me recommendations based on what he wanted in that very moment. I ordered a choripan (which is a sausage sandwich that comes with chimichurri) and two beef empanadas, which they are able to bake, but I believe you have to call ahead. Otherwise, the empandas will be fried. The person taking my order was friendly and they sell a lot of different types of yerba for those who drink traditional mate. Rosamonte, Nobleza Gaucha and Cruz de Malta were some of the ones they carried. They also sell Havanna alfajores, mates and bombillas. Honestly, it is your one-stop shop for Argentinian culture.
As for the food, the choripan was absolutely heavenly. The plan was to save the empanadas for later: they never made it home. The empanadas were savory and juicy. The choripan was on a telera-style roll that seemed more balanced than the empanadas, in terms of flavour. If I were to put a finger on it, I'd have to say the empanadas were slightly more salty than I'd like. They look small in the photo but to be fair, they were at the bottom of the bag.
All in all, just lovely. I will definitely come back for the rest...
Read moreOrdered on their website for pick up. When I go to pick up, they had everything except my chicha morada drinks. No big deal so I just accept the food but ask for a refund on the drinks since the website charged me for the pick up order. The cashier didn’t know how to do a refund and left my name/number on a sticky note and said someone would call me next day for a refund. I never get a call so I decide to call owner or manager, Santiago, who said he wasn’t sure he’d be able to give me a refund. I feel that I shouldn’t pay for something I didn’t receive. Honestly really disappointed. Santiago also said he would call me back next day again to see about a refund and never did. I decided that since I already called to request a refund and never got a clear answer, I filed a report with my credit card. I didn’t even ask for a full refund, I only asked for refund on the food I did not receive and that they did not have available. Thankfully my credit card gave me the refund. So be careful when buying on their website, it won’t tell you if something is out of stock but will still charge you. And if you pay for something and don’t receive it, just be careful because they won’t do a...
