The worst fine dining experience I've ever had! Not being a Native of Bellingham, I searched and researched all of the local restaurants who serve lobster. My daughter was turning 21 and would be traveling from California to spend her special birthday with me. I wanted to give her a memorable dining experience with a view of the sunset and her first lobster dinner. There are very few establishments that serve lobster so I carefully chose Anthony's. I called 2 weeks ahead of time, explained my goal and made a reservation. The person I spoke to assured me that I could make our reservation for 7 pm and that even though they close their doors at 9, we wouldn't be rushed, we could enjoy a nice, long dinner, and would be able to take in the sunset while there would be plenty of other customers in the restaurant and not to worry about being rushed. I trusted all would go well. I was wrong. The waiter was unprofessional, not personable, and definitely had no desire to make our experience memorable. I told him we'd like to take our time but he was obviously not on board. I ordered crab cakes which were almost cold when arrived. They were mushy and undercooked, but worst of all, they were very "fishy tasting," which crab cakes shouldn't be. I've had many crab cakes in my life and never have I had such a horrible crab cake as this. When the waiter returned and asked how they were, I explained and showed him how mushy they were. He reluctantly asked if I'd like him to take them back and cook them more. I agreed. At that time, my daughter tried her lobster, which looked undercooked to me. She seemed to like the first few bites but as soon as it got cold, she completely grossed out on it and couldn't eat it. I tried it then and it was the worst lobster I'd ever had. I couldn't eat it either. My daughter is in the restaurant business and at the risk of embarrassing her and further ruining the dinner, I didn't express to the server how horrible the food was. I got the check, almost $170 for food that wasn't even edible. I planned one of the most special occasions of my life with every detail perfectly and saved the funds to pay for this dinner for weeks. I've never been so disappointed after a dining experience in my life. I do not recommend this restaurant and especially if you're looking for good lobster and a restaurant that will cater to a...
Read moreI am very disappointed with a recent visit my mom and I had at this location. We were excited to have a nice celebratory meal on the water together. After having a waiter who barely attended to us, had us waiting for our food for a very long time with no check ins or updates, offered us sauces that he never brought, had to wave him down for a bill, and just a horrible overall experience, we complained to the headquarters online. The food came very late even after the rush of the restaurant had cleared out. It appeared the order might not have been put in or something. Then, the waiter was very involved with a woman at the bar and not attending to our table one bit. The scallops were good, but the steak was dry, overcooked, and had no flavor or seasoning. Anyways, once the complaint was received online, the kind person apologized for our bad experience and forwarded my complaint to the manager of the location we had visited. The manager, Carson, responded asking us if we had the right restaurant, as if we didn't make sure of that before sending in our complaint! He also never stated any apology throughout our correspondence. Instead, he chose to put the blame on us as if we should've spoken up while out the restaurant. We would have spoken up if anyone would have appeared to be available. The waiter was preoccupied, the host was not there when I was looking, and the only person who shed a smile and thoughtful notion was the person who brought the water to our table. I could go on about my interaction with the manager, Carson, but I will leave it at that. Carsons' replies to our emails made it very clear why this particular establishment is failing on various levels. Quite often, issues trickle down from the top, and it seems like that is the case at this location. We will not be returning to this Anthony's and have shared our experience with family and friends who were also disgusted, especially for the price we paid of over $100. We have always enjoyed the various Anthony's locations around the state. Sadly, this one is crossed off the list. At least I sucked it up long enough to get a refund. Little did Carson know that acknowledgment of our concerns could've gone a long way. Don't waste your money here. Keenan's has much better food and service, as well as many other restaurants...
Read moreJudy and I often visit this restaurant which, like Anthony's Hearthfire nearby is remarkably consistent and always good. Usually we enjoy a couple of drinks, steamers and salad in the lounge spending $60-$70 total including our tip; Nate is usually our served there. Anthony's management must have an excellent selection and training program for their servers who are quite superior to most -- exactly the right balance between being solicitous and efficient. Last night, however, for this visit, there were 12 of us, a small discussion group of which we are members, coming together with our wives/partners in Anthony's small banquet room for our annual holiday season dressy dinner, and had a truly wonderful time. By the end of our 3+ hour visit comment from all was "wonderful food and place!". Our server, David, was attentive without being obsequious. Before sitting down, the having the room gave us a chance to enjoy socialising for an hour or so, with David taking our drink orders while we chatted and enjoyed four different "small bites" that were placed on a side table for us to share; then, seated, we all ordered off the menu. The food came in a timely way and we all enjoyed it, all of which matched the various preferences including one person's special dietary requirements which were met without fuss; in some cases while taking orders David suggested a small adjustment here or there which was appreciated. We were never rushed, and the pace was just right. No one of us was a "big drinker" but we each probably averaged two drinks (some premium, I suspect), and the dinner choices ranged from top end to medium price from the menu. Including the room the bill was about $67 per person plus tip; we considered this reasonable given that the room was included; management expects (at least in this year 2017) that guests will average $50 each to get the room included "free"). For a wonderful evening with no complaints whatever, it was a bargain, we agreed. A Big Thank You to Anthony's at...
