No. My review for this place is, no. I don't normally slam a restaurant. But there was nothing good about this one. Walked in and the floor was sticky. It was like walking into a movie theater. I should have clued in then. My daughter and I were out for a Mother's Day lunch. The only thing she wanted was clam straps. The cashier did not know the difference between clam strips. They have two kinds, but she couldn't answer a question about them. Know your food if you work in a restaurant. We ordered the Fisherman's Catch. Didn't have to wait long. Fried food is fried in grease. I understand this, but it should not literally be leaving oil everywhere. The clam strips and there was a piece of something on there that we still haven't figured out that was not on the menu, possibly squid? were undercooked. The butterfly shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. The only thing really edible in the whole basket was the deep fried oysters. They were okay. The fish that is supposed to be so fantastic there, the coating literally slid off of it. The fish itself tasted fine. The coleslaw and sauces were good , I'll give them back. But there was nothing good about the meal as a whole, except for the French fries. They were not greasy, and they were tasty. But they're the kind you can pick up in the grocery store in the frozen foods aisle. We packed up our food and left and went somewhere else for our Mother's Day lunch. We contemplated complaining, but we seriously did not want to wait for more greasy food. We will never return to this place and we highly highly do not recommend it.
In the same area, about 100yards away, we found a wonderful place that the food was fantastic and we very much enjoyed our Mother's Day fish and...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. Place felt dirty, stray napkins blowing around on the ground. Bathroom was dismal. Food was greasy: French fries were undercooked and limp, were probly frozen store bought. My cod sandwich had these small, rock hard pieces of old overcooked batter in it! I literally almost cracked a tooth! It hurt! Had 4 pieces in my sandwich. I went to the cashier to report this and show her and she gave me a song and dance that it was probably just what I said it was. No apology. She seemed unconcerned like it was normal! Wow! The 2 cooks were standing right behind her, doing nothing, it seemed, as it was a slow time. They could've been cleaning the grease, at least!! Cashier said she would let the cooks know. Turn around and do that then!! I wasn't looking for any kind of offer to discount my tab, but she could've at least acted concerned. I just thought the staff would want to know about "these rocks" to avoid others from maybe cracking a tooth.I just spent $53.00 for a bad experience, for goodness sake! I asked for the manager. Nope, not here. I would never recommend this place and will share my experience so others will have an informed decision on whether to eat here. I hope the manager sees this! The prices are expensive. I will gladly pay for good food, elsewhere! No tip...
Read moreAmong casual lunch and breakfast places, it's a gem. This is the place that the local fishermen and boaters go for good food. It's ambiance is casual, but on warm days you can eat outside, and the portions are generous and the food is always tasty. We often have the BLT sandwich, the best in Bellingham in our opinion, and the hamburgers are varied and admired. Good clam chowder, fish and chips, etc. You'll see lots of locals, with men and women in fishing garb and bankers in suits getting away from the office for a good lunch; the guy in torn jeans might be a millionaire yacht owner who's spending the day working on his boat. There's a lot of "Old Bellingham" flavor, along with good food, a unique...
