I wanted to love this place so much, but there were a few issues that downgraded my love to a like. Our server, Zach, was wonderful, and the staff was great. The decor/vibe was creative, the patio had an amazing view, and the housemade ciders, predictably, were the star of the show. The blackberry-ginger and imperial pineapple were both pretty dang spectacular (though, curiously, the pineapple cider lacked a distinctive pineapply flavor). Had we only stopped for drinks, this would have been a five-star review. But we actually came for the happy hour food. And unfortunately, it took nearly 40 minutes for our three small plates to arrive. It was a sparsely populated weekday afternoon, so it was a little baffling that it took so long to receive our food. One of the dishes was EXCELLENT: the pork belly, braised to silky, decadent perfection and charred on the edges, was probably the best bite of food we had in all of Bellingham. Less successful were the Arcadian salad and clam chowder. The salad had some great elements (nicely roasted beets, good quality goat cheese), but the greens were a little wilted/brown on the edges and the dressing was underwhelming. I appreciated its acidity and its subtlety, but it didn’t fully bring the dish together. The chowder seemed a little TOO freshly-made; the flavors hadn’t really developed, and the potatoes were just barely cooked through. Very nice flavor, but the soup simply needed to simmer longer. Criticisms aside, these were still good dishes; the real problem here was the wait time for the food. Especially during a happy hour that features small plates. Those plates need to MOVE. Instead, we sat on a chilly patio waiting a really long time for something that should have graced our table in 5-10 minutes tops. If you come here, definitely enjoy the fabulous cider and the friendly atmosphere, but be sure to ask your server how long it’ll take before you’ll get...
Read moreI dropped by Bellingham cider company with my sister's family and my family. We arrived around 5:30 on a Tuesday, and I think there was some kind of dance recital or something so there was zero parking. (Unless you have a permit or something, you can't park in front of the entrance?) So we had to park on the street. We sat outside, and it was a lovely day to enjoy some cider And some food. We ordered cider flights, pork belly, truffle fries, kids burgers, kids pizza, the halibut, and a salad. The pork belly was great. It was shared among four adults, and it was a good bite for each of us. The Halibut was Cooked very well. My toddler enjoyed a bite of it and so did my sister. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. The pizza was great - not too salty and was cheesy enough - and the burgers were demolished by my niece and nephew. (I forgot to take pictures of all the food whoops) Just a side note. Coming from Canada, the exchange rate hasn't been nice to us. The $20 usd burger was definitely more than $20 Canadian. It was good, don't get me wrong, but the food was on the Pricey side for Canadians. I don't blame the Bellingham cider Company for the meh feeling at the end. Just the exchange rate's fault. Anyway. This wasn't our first time at the brewery. It's got Solid food and great drinks. It's a lovely place to come on a lovely...
Read moreWe stopped here on Sunday 22 September on a pre-fall afternoon... that was pretty perfect weather to enjoy their delicious cider as you soak in the views! David brought us a couple samples that my mom opted for the Strawberry Rhubarb cider and I went for the Blackberry Ginger cider. My mom and I both opted for a lunch of Double R Ranch Burgers w fries. The food and cider were both delicious, our service was attentive and efficient, ambiance delightful and views wonderful. Parking was easy in their tiny lot w a few spaces. Finding the Cidery was easy once we entered thanks to signage. Bathrooms were easy to locate for the same reason. We didn't spend much time inside as we trailed our way to the host stand and took advantage of the weather by sitting on the deck. I got a chuckle and as someone who always advocates for Local & Small I very much appreciated the hostess stand sign that read: FIERCELY LOCAL. Thanks Bellingham for a delicious meal paired w delicious cider on a deck that allowed us to take in the Bellingham watery & green beauty. Definitely mentally noted we should come back at night when it's lit up. Cheers and keep up the Fiercely Local good...
