I guess two stars because usually this is a good place? Don't go on a Monday for sure. I got the worst looking italian grinder ever tonight. There was just meat and cheese on it. That is not how it's described on the menu and it also isn't what I think anyone expects when ordering an Italian grinder. I went within the last two weeks and it was amazing. I drove from Alger in the snow so I'm very upset. We got a pizza too but the dough was underdone. Idk what changed or who is working tonight that sucks, but make sure your sandwich doesn't look like a 7 year old made it before you leave the parking lot.

We love getting a colossal from McKays every once in a while for silly occasions. They are so massive and just as delicious as their standard pizzas. There was a little confusion with ordering it this time, we called one night before wanting it to ask some questions and they advised we just preorder right then. Then they called back and said they don’t preorder. Then they called the next day and said they appreciate preorders. While a little confusing we were just so happy that we got our gigantic pizza at the time we wanted it. Super hot and tasty!

Overcast evening, nine of us had spent the day in the beating sun trying to find a reason why any of us should even try anymore. Our agonizing had built up quite the hunger. The choice was clear...the largest pizza in the land was necessary to save what will we each had left to live, and the colossal from McKay's Taphouse delivered the jolt of life we each needed to make it to the next day. Tomorrow will be a challenge, but maybe a 10 foot submarine sandwich will allow us to continue to strive to find meaning in this cold, heartless world.

greasy.

Do not order if you have reflux!!!!

~

i have unfortunately found their flavors poorly combined * & their food digestively traumatizing, again and again. (tums couldn't save me.) I have finally given up.

[* examples: the green olives didn't fit in with the rest of the greek pizza, to me, even though I usually adore sour flavours like that. The teriyaki chicken pizza with the pineapple mooshed in with the cheese just didn't go with its self either, but it is probably my own fault for not evading that personal disappointment, as I mostly only like teriyaki with plenty of refreshing rice and broccoli, or so forth.]

if you must buy McKay's, i recommend buying just enough to finish it without leftovers, because then at least the greasyness factor is less unpleasant.

also, be aware that they recently made their "subs" a small fraction of the quantity that their "grinders" once were. before then, i had some reasonable suggestions from here, for the price. :/ i guess some good things come to an end.

[examples: the chicken parm grinder. also, the roasted veggie grinder, specificly with all mozzarella instead of any ricotta. i also used to always tell them to give me extra of everything and charge me accordingly. the whole scale of their bread changed from a french loaf/sub sandwich size to about a hoagie/hotdog bun size, though, and now the chicken comes cut up instead of in whole scrumptious breaded filets. you used to basically be able to order chicken parmesan for real at night. now it's a scanty chicken piece sandwich with some marinara, although if i had called them (like usual) instead of using Uber Eats then I might have been able to get just enough food for one meal on it, so I might actually try again; we'll see.]

EXCEPTION:

Their chicken tenders with buffalo sauce and dressing wasn't a bad meal, nor a bad deal!

I noticed that they had barbeque and sauce-free options as well!

So... if you want reasonable finger food, this actually could work out for you!.. I might even do it again myself!..

(i have mostly just tried the pizza and sandwiches, though. .... they had stopped carrying salads because of CoVid, to my late night frustration.)

Update:

I'm adding a star, because I feel guilty not acknowledging that the people have always been kind and accomodating.

(It's really awkward dissing the latest night non-chain[i think] delivery option when you still live in the town and have a psychological disability. I just feel guilty not warning people with acid reflux. Unless you also have a low blood sugar problem, you'd probably almost be better off starving for how greasy it is. :/.. Really nice staff, though!.....

so gonna blast McVays taphouse here! Ordered a pizza the other night and the meat on it wasnt any good. I called the next day they gave me a credit. So tonight I asked for the pizza i ordered a lua with no tomato sauce(i am allergic), 1/2 with no bacon and artichokes and all of it the white garlic sauce. I think i said no pineapple but that is on me cause i am not sure. so i get the pizza pineapple on it...its ok i think i forgot to say. but there is tomato sauce all over it. so i call up they say they will send me one out. twice i said i would send back the pizza and the guy said on the other end to keep it. so far its ok...so Brit Sehnsucht and hwr bf Patrick Mullen ask if they can have it...the pizza was for me and Zen the guy said to keep so i gave ut to them cause I cant eat it. so the delivery guy gets here tells me he cant give me the pizza cause my kids ate it. then he says i lied about ever ordering it with tomato sauce. Which I did not ..he said he heard the whole conversation which could have only been the guy on the other end. So he accuses me of being a liar...he leaves me the pizza but still making up lies to make it out it was my fault and not theirs. I cooked for almost 20 years i never treated a customer like this and i am not one to make up stuff to get free food which they are treating me like. So now i call the amanager that works the night shift and he says i am making up stories that i said three different stories which I didnt by now i am cussing them out yes me!!!! i am totally livid cause this guy made a mistake cant own up to it and getting the whole night crew to back him up even lying and saying one moment i ordered with tomato sauce and then another said they watched the pizza have white sauce on it...the very last pizza did. so here are pics of the pizza they claimed had white sauce on it...they said half one time and then a whole one time. they are the one changing their stories....i will never go back...worst service ever and I will blast them...

The gluten free pizza was ok but the service was horrible. My order was mixed up with another on a busy Friday night. I have understanding for that but then they said 5 more min after I waited already 30+ min. And came back 10 min later instead of 5 and it still was not ready. We asked for an apology for our order being late after Ben said I don't know what to tell ya.... He was rude and laughed at us as we had just requested common courtesy. We were then sent to an email to send a complaint to the manager and it was sent back saying it was an invalid email. We then called to talk to the manager as the same guy was laughing in the background at us for just wanting to have simple hospitality. I am gluten free and had made a pizza at home and failed and then went and spent $22 on a medium gluten free pizza and was treated horribly by the staff. There were so many people in the kitchen just talking it up and not even waiting on me when I sit there waiting for my pizza. These guys do not deserve to be paid for there service and I'll never go there again. We spent so much on such a small pizza and are treated like this. I am sorry it was Friday but you could atleast just say your sorry and make it right. Ben your prides gonna make you lose your job. My husband did not even start raising his voice until you have him a nasty attitude. You don't need to be working in the hospitality business. My husband suffers from ptsd and you triggered him so bad. You have no idea what someone's going through in there own life and should treat everyone with kindness and respect especially in your work...
