I'm not one to ever write reviews but this was the WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant, if I could give 0 stars I would. This establishment has always been cheap but 2+ years ago they had much better quality in their food and service, so I don't know what changed. I visited tonight to have a nice outing with my boyfriend and the food was the most disgusting inedible stuff I've ever eaten. Every type of seafood I TRIED to eat (clams, muscles, shrimp, prawns, lobster, crab) tasted the way a polluted marina smells, like sea water and raw stinky fish. I even had multiple dishes that had a back taste of cigarettes?? I am not a picky eater at all and LOVE good quality seafood but after my first plate I became very skeptical. I ended up getting 3 plates with a small portion of almost everything to TRY and give them a redemption, but literally EVERYTHING was so ridiculously salty and had little to no flavor itself. I couldn't finish even half of any plate and spit out at least 5 different foods I attempted to eat. The only thing that was somewhat edible was the salmon but the best thing they serve there would be water. Their deserts taste stale and I somehow managed to get a creampuff with no cream? The Lobster, seafood boil, crab, and prawns, pretty much had no meat and they don't offer anything to crack them open or gloves to eat them with. The atmosphere was horrible we had about 4 different servers who wouldn't bat an eye at us, just fill (and spill) our water then walk away. The customers in there are very rude and were unapologetically bumping into me everywhere I went. Once we had enough of spitting our food out, we decided to go pay up front so we could get out of there and the lady who was going to give us our bill sprinted towards me as if I was going to leave without paying, then proceeded to urgently point at the tip section and attempt to FORCE me to tip. I walked right out. I genuinely don't understand how this place hasn't been shut down yet as it is SO filthy and the biggest scam of all time. As a waitress at an Asian cuisine, this is such a sorry excuse for a restaurant. If you don't want to lose your money and dignity DO NOT GO HERE. As others have said, the Royal Star Buffet in Burlington is your best bet. I will never come back here, such a waste of...
Read moreVERY DISAPPOINTING & UNPROFFESIONAL!!! As a long-standing patron of this establishment, I have consistently had positive experiences here, both personally and with my family. However, an unfortunate and highly disappointing incident occurred during our most recent visit, which I feel compelled to address. On this occasion, my mother, who was celebrating her birthday, went to the restaurant to pick up takeout for me, as she has done numerous times before. Unbeknownst to her, the restaurant had implemented new policies regarding takeout orders, specifically concerning the pricing of chicken. While weighing the food, the staff member immediately became confrontational, loudly reprimanding my mother for selecting chicken, stating that it was "very expensive." Despite her sincere attempts to apologize and calmly seek guidance on how to proceed, the staff member continued to raise his voice, making disparaging remarks. Ultimately, my mother, feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed, decided to return the items using the tongs provided. However, the situation escalated further when the staff member physically swatted her hands while she was attempting to place the food back on the counter. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also completely unacceptable. Regardless of any frustrations, there is never a justification for physically engaging with a customer in this manner. As a professional, I understand the importance of upholding business protocols, but this incident highlighted a severe lapse in basic customer service. A simple explanation of the new rules, delivered in a respectful manner, would have easily resolved the issue. My mother’s intentions were never to defraud the business; she was simply unaware of the changes.Money was never the problem and we can pay for it. It is deeply troubling that this experience occurred, particularly given the respect and loyalty we have shown to this restaurant over the years. Moving forward, I hope this feedback will be taken seriously, ensuring that future interactions with customers are conducted with the professionalism, courtesy, and dignity they deserve. Given this experience, I am now hesitant to continue frequenting this...
Read moreFirst and foremost, the atmosphere in the restaurant can be quite chaotic even savage like. We witnessed the head waitress (presumably the owner) yelling and talking loudly to various staff members, including her son, on several occasions during our visit. A good chunk of business is from Canadians.
We asked about one of the items with an empty tray and were told that it was no longer available, after waiting for 35 minutes. The dish was eventually brought out but the head waitress seemed to be in a very foul mood after her last outburst. Her unprofessional behavior was very noticeable. Her lack of honesty was concerning too. We didn't want to get in her way.
The men's washroom had a fist sized deep hole in the floor by the urinal. The paper towel dispenser didn't work because the sensor mechanism was broken. They want you to use the the forced air hand dryer.
The roast beef is really meh. Not flavourful. is always tough, like leather. That's WB's signature dish. I recommend bringing your own steak knife from home, as the butter knives provided by the restaurant are not up to the task.
We have been to this restaurant a few times lately and have noticed that the quality of the food has improved. It's not delicious. Make no mistake. It's just ok.
The dessert selection rarely changes and is below average. The jello is surprisingly good and not watered down, and the salad bar has fresh lettuce (not prepackaged), but there are no bacon bits.
There can be a long wait for certain items, such as the cheesy oysters. The food selection is wide enough to satisfy most people, and the restaurant often gets crowded, especially during dinner with visits from large families.
One big caveat is the billing system. There is no option on the credit card/debit machine to enter the tip amount. First, you are charged for your meal and beverages. Then, you write the amount of the tip (by hand) on the merchant's receipt. It is important to make sure that you calculate this correctly.
Overall, I recommend especially since buffets are...
