This is a small restaurant on the corner of El Camino Real and fifth Avenue. There is no parking lot for the restaurant but there is plenty of street parking on Fifth Avenue. The restaurant can literally seat 4 couples and one party of 4 (yes it is small!) Most of their business is take out.
What they dont have in size of the restaurant they make up on flavor. We ordered "Baked Mussel" and seaweed salad for appetizers. The seaweed salad was ordinary but omg the baked mussel was phenomenal. The mussel was baked perfectly and the sauce had the right mix of cheese and some type of sweet sauce...yum!
For main course we ordered the chef's special-- Toro tasting and Hokkaido Scallop Oshizushi. The Toro special was excellent, perfectly cooked and just right amount of flavor. Same thing for the scallop roll. Neither one of them needed soy sauce so you can guess how tasty the food was.
We topped off the dinner with housemade mile crepe cake. It is highly rated by other reviewers. It was indeed very good but not as spectacular as I had hoped for.
The only negative I would say is the serving size in the context of the price. I understand we all eat too much so having a small meal is good. However the price has to be commensurate with the serving size. I don't think it was. Nonetheless a great place to get grub...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible sushi. Super fresh, well prepared.
This place is a very cozy hole in the way right off of the el Camino real. The outside might look kinda shady, but the food is absolutely incredible. I've never been disappointed from ryoshin. They offer a wide variety of fish and nigiris as well as some fusion rolls. I've gotten the 10 piece nigiri twice and each time my Togo box was packed with delicious fresh fish ranging from smoked salmon to mackral to tamago, which was very good and definitely house made unlike most other sushi restaurants. When you come, please look for the white chalkboard on the wall as it has their "daily" specials. Which ranges from fresh local or in season fish or other rolls not on the menu. Please also try the omakase, as I've heard many great things about it. Don't come hear and expect a cheap meal, the prices are not cheap as the quality and time taken to prepare the fish is evident.
Overall, my fav sushi...

This place is small, only a few tables for seating for groups of 2-4. It's easier to just do takeout. Their nigiri/sashimi is the thing to get
If you're craving fresh fish, then check this place out. I was pleasantly surprised by their quality and selection of fish. It's also very reasonably priced (though I did find their dons/bowls to be on the smaller side for portion size). I would definitely recommend ordering their nigiri/sashimi since they have a rotating fresh selection of fish to choose from. I loved their salmon selection since they have such a variety. Not sure if it was because it was the end of the week or end of the day (I ate here on a Sunday Night) but they did run out of certain types of fish so we couldn't try them :(
If you do dine in, they give you a cute small mango pudding at the end which I really enjoyed. Not sure if they also give this out for takeout but it was a great way to...
