Iron Gate (IG) is a gem. It's one of those last standing "old school" fine dining where you can travel back in time and pretend you're an affluent connossieur of some sorts in the 80s or 90s. I'm almost certain they keep the interior a bit "run-down" just for that.

But don't let the wear and tear grab your attention from the "class" and it exudes. You are definitely not walking into a modern date night. Think more of it as a classy dinining experience, straight out of the history book with abundant flambes going live all around you, in a very family mansion type of setting. Oh yes, there's also some funky dank smell when you enter but you'll get used to it.

Now where IG shines is the food. The fetuccine vongole was impeccable - sturdy and soft at the same time. The escargot was well done - not too salty and greasy. Fresh salads, and reasonable wine selection and price. The only blemish was at least with the NY steak and fliet mignon. Both were a bit tough based on fine dining standards and a bit over-cooked (although we asked for medium).

The star of the show was the banna foster flambe. We really enjoy this personal touch and show in other places, and IG does not disappoint. Butter, brown sugar, and plenty of rum and other liquors. Bananas came out perfect over smooth vanilla ice-cream.

IG isn't your milleinnial or gen-z date scene nor business meal. It is a way to live through history and nostalgia. The patrons are local seniors largely, celebrating something with the family and friends. The entire place is cozy and heartful. And that's what makes IG live on...

Many thanks to Dimitrios and Kaveh (owners) who were very friendly and attentive to our needs and concerns in such a short time setting up the reservation for our twin daughters' birthday celebration. Having a room for the occasion was wonderful since we were able to come early and decorate. It provided an intimate setting for our guests of 25 -- away from the other diners.

Of course, Magdy and Will (chief waiters/stewards along with their helpers) were also fantastic in providing superb service and it made all the differences! They were there at our "beck and call." They made sure that the celebrants, who were also wine connoisseurs, were provided with excellent wine selections. We can't forget to mention their interesting preparation of the Caesar Salad and veal scaloppine flambé. What a show!

So delighted with Iron Gate. Gratefully, Lyn

Another Review The 50th Birthday Party for my twin nieces at your restaurant on June 10, 2023 was absolutely FANSTASTIC! The food and service were great, a well thoughtout set menu choices. Best meal we have enjoyed, superb presentation and cooked to perfection.. The atmosphere .. welcoming being greeted by employees at the door and inside as we were escorted to our private room. But I also appreciate the availability of their parking in their lot especially some of the guests were Octogenarian, and Septuagenarian. Enjoyable for a double 50th Birthday...

This restaurant runs a dishonest gift certificate program! I gave my retired parents two (2) $100 gift certificates to use toward their dinner on July 12, 2019 (they were taking their friends out for their anniversary) the bill came and it was $330 + & they told my parents that they can only use one (1) of their gift certificates $&"@ -huh?!! These gift certificates are no different than CASH - no different than putting down two (2) $100 bills AND they were already paid for!!!$$ YOU ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY UPFRONT + they SPENT OVER there $200 gift certificates! NUTS! These were not coupons, discount cards, buy one get one free deal so this is a RIGGED and DISHONEST practice & it is intentional to keep prepaid money by Iron Gate through arbitrary excuses why you can't use it when you dine there! Iron Gate, people have choices where they dine & you don't deserve any patronage! You took advantage of my retired parents on a fixed income with an excuse that doesn't make any sense and you know it! You should credit my parents credit card $100! I will share what you did with the person that purchased these $100 gift certificates for us so they know how you treated their gift and...

Fantastic! I made a mistake & booked for the wrong date ... as we realized I didn't have a reservation- the hostess insisted in sitting us at a table. We were in the main room in the corner & we were able to witness perfection in service! An orchestrated, synchronized service of flambé, Cesar salads on carts that maneuvered around the restaurant.. they seemingly danced around the restaurant with superb drinks and delicious foods! It's been too long since we've been & now I regret not going back monthly!! Giuseppe, our waiter was phenomenal! I felt like we knew him for years- he detailed the specials to perfection! Kaveh, the owner, made a point to meet us. His humble demeanor was well received. Why this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star is beyond me. Not having one.. makes this the humble local "go to" restaurant of the Peninsula! If you haven't been in years .. it's a MUST. SIMPLY OUTSTANDING!!

We've been to this restaurant several times for dinner or to the bar to listen to live music on Saturday nights. The restaurant has an old school setting, which was nice. The restaurant in general is pricey. This was the first time that we went for lunch. Everything for lunch was delicious, and the service from Ignacio excellent. We started with a glass of Moet champagne, which was very good. For an appetizer, we had fried zucchini blossoms that also had crab inside. This was so good, we wanted to lick the plate. For lunch we had a Dungeness crab sandwich and fish & chips and both were on the daily lunch specials. For lunch they also offer a 3 course prixe fixe menu for$37, which I would have tried except that I wanted their bananas foster for dessert, which they make tableside and is sooo good. You can see live musical performers on Saturday nights in the bar for a fee.
