Backporch Coffee Roasters — Restaurant in Bend

WOW I am so impressed with Backporch Coffee Roasters! Stopped here when driving through Bend to check out a local coffee roaster - ended up coming back multiple times during my 1.5 weeks in the area. The coffee is just really good. I got hot and iced lattes that were consistently made well. On my first visit to this location I got the honey lavender latte and loved it. My friend and I each walked away with a bag of beans to take home. We also tried out the pour-over packets which are perfect for camping or having in class.

They have a case of great-looking baked goodies - the only vegan item is a bagel (hope for more in the future) and there are some gluten-free items. The sea salt chocolate chip cookie is amazing! There are also some bars and chocolate bars.

The atmosphere is very laid back. It's the perfect spot to hang out with a friend or study/work on a laptop. Not too loud inside and they have free wifi that works very well (I was able to stream videos without any issues).

Decent coffee, but experience does matter. We said “thank you” multiple times. Once after receiving our drinks and then after we finished we said “thank you” as we left. We didn’t even get eye contact or any acknowledgment of any kind. This was just at closing and we paid with a gift card, still left a 20% tip. So idk if they were upset at us. Best coffee roaster in Central Oregon, hands down! Staff are always very friendly & knowledgeable, and many have worked directly with the plantations that source Backporch's beans. The beans themselves are carefully roasted, not 'burnt.' If they still do this & you have the opportunity to go, I recommend you attend a cupping/tasting to experience the different flavors of the different beans.
