Bend Kayak School and Rentals (River Delivery and Full Day Appointments) — Local services in Bend

*Edit, 8 months post this experience. Noted issues that are still discussed to this day, Late company arrival to strict patron arrival time, charging a price not agreed upon but suggesting it was for accommodations. Note: dogs not welcome for paddle boarding, it is on their website.

Still disgruntled with this service almost a year later. But also more aggravated by the post experience reply. My girlfriend, being agreeable and friendly was nothing but kind with this company was nothing but pleasant, and was all of the interactions with this company.

Though leaving as 2 stars since, without the issues stated above and below. Staff seemed kind, had a mostly wonderful trip, and did accommodate for our dog, despite the unagreed upon upcharge of a measly $10.*

Original review: Mostly great day on the river, friendly and helpful staff, though will not be a future patron.

Issues... late drop off, dogs are not allowed on SUP, charged extra for SUP to single seater kayak swap regardless of the same price point, and then told I had agreed to this price difference when questioned about said price change after billing. (main issue being, told this price was agreed upon when it was not).

Opted for a 2 1/2 hour paddle board. Arrived 10 minutes prior to the reccomended 5min prior. Staff arrived shortly after the assigned meet up time. After the misunderstanding of dogs not being allowed on SUP rentals, the staff politely switched for a single seater kayak instead of the other available $65 double kayak option, we got just under 2 hours of on the water time. (Which ended up being plenty of time). After the trip concluded and equipment was returned I was charged an additional $10 for the rental. When questioned about the extra charge, (since SUP and single seater kayaks are both $35 for a 2 1/2 hour trip)... I was told that I had agreed to this... which was simply not the case. Rather than argue over $10 or semantics of a 2 1/2 hour trip that was cut short by late staff and poor communication on both parties for restrictions on dogs. I'm here to hopefully warn others to read their rules carefully, don't bring your pups for this trip, read your receipts, and hopefully enjoy Bend...

What a perfect day!!

We headed towards Bend for our honeymoon with the hope of kayaking. Our car is small and it doesn’t have a roof rack so I thought we might be out of luck, but after talking to Danielle we were reassured that they had everything we would need to safely transport two large, hard shell kayaks.

Every part of the experience was easy. They provided a pad for the top of the car and plenty of straps to safely secure the kayaks to the roof of my Corolla. They showed us how to use all of the gear and they helped strap the kayaks to my car. Very, very, very creative but also very safe!

The lake recommendation was absolutely beautiful. We went to Hosmer and words cannot begin to describe how beautiful it was. It felt like paradise.

You can tell that this is a business that really cares about the customer experience. Very knowledgeable of the area, great recommendations with up-to-date weather information. We will absolutely use them again and I would recommend them to everyone who wants to try kayaking.

Excellent experience with management team from work. Craig made the process super simple. He was very helpful answering all of my questions when I first called trying to figure out the best experience for our group. The majority of us were first time kayakers and Craig provided many helpful tips that made for a successful experience. It was a great workout paddling upstream from Mirror Pond (Brooks Park) having to put a little muscle into it in places where there was a current. We paddled up to the end of the tubing park and floated back to Mirror Pond (Brooks Park). The kayaks were great quality, very stable and all of the needed gear was provided. The scenery along the river was also absolutley beautiful. Craig was timely dropping off and picking up the kayaks and even provided us with wonderful eatery suggestions (which happened to be a home run for our group). We will be doing this again the next time we return to Bend and would highly reccommend this...
