Broken Top Bottle Shop & Ale Cafe — Restaurant in Bend

I am so bummed to write this but wow what happened to this place? I really hope this is a cook/waitress problem and not an ownership problem but judging by what the waitress said I'm not so sure.

I used to LOVE coming here. The last time we visited was like 8 months ago and the portion sizes were (pretty) fair for the price and the service was excellent! Now the prices are insane for the quantity. I ordered the sushi salad with tofu which was $21. It's always been a high priced item but was a delicious spurlge every now and then that was hard to pass up because the plate was always full with ingredients and bursting with flavor but now it hardly had anything but lettuce on it. I asked the waitress because I was so surprised that there was hardly anything on a $21 salad especially rice that seems like something they could at least fill the plate with, I mean rice is cheap. This had less than a half cup of rice. She said they downsized their portions. That's an understatement!! The whole salad was such a rip off for $21. I mean $21 for a salad is insane but usually it's packed and filled with deliciousness so I never felt bad about it. Today I physically regret eating the food. Oh, and on top of that the waitress didn't care to mention that the dressing was "out" because the cook didn't tell her "until after I put the order in." So, tell your customer!! I also can't believe this place is charging $17 for a Cauliflower Schwarma! I always give 20% tip but I actually sat there and contemplated not even giving a tip for the first time in my life. The combo of bad service, and insane prices for such small quantities was just so wrong, so wrong. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. What a disappointing experience....

My husband and I wanted to try this place because they had several vegan options. We sat out on the patio because it was nice outside. I ordered the hoisin tofu bon me and my husband ordered the Tempe Ruben sandwich. The server mentioned that they were out of the dikon radish for my sandwich, which I was okay with. When the food came there was no other vegetables, it was supposed to have cucumbers, carrots, Thai basil and cilantro. My husband didn’t get what he ordered. The Tempe Ruben ended up being the Tempe BBQ sandwich.

The service was even worse. Once our food came we never got checked on and waited about 15 minutes. We ended up going in to pay. We noticed that she was looking out at us at she was talking to a table of guys inside the restaurant. When we were paying for our food she seemed to be more friendly to them than any attention she gave us. She was laughing and showing them stuff on her phone. I told my husband not to bother with a tip but he tipped anyway. I am sure this is a great place to eat and my husband liked his food even it was not what he ordered. My food would have been better if it had the veggies to go with it. It was our server that made our experience bad. It was like she knew she messed up on our order and didn’t want to deal with...

Let's start out with the good. Food was good, we ended up being there on 50 cent wing night, and certainly ate our fill. Beer selection is superb, especially with all the bottles to choose from in the shop.

Now for the service. This was honestly one of the worst service experiences I have had in a while. Every single waiter/server we talked to acted like we were bothering them. We ordered two pretzels for an appetizer for our table, and after getting all our food asked where they were. The reply was a flat "Oh I didn't put those in, Ill put those in now" No apology, no sorry about that, just straight indifference.

We were a table of 6 and got a big plate of wings, but no small plates were brought out. So we asked to get a few more. They brought us two. We asked if maybe we could get enough for the whole table, and that seemed to the waitress we asked like the worst thing she had ever heard or had to do. Eventually received enough plates for everyone.

Ordered sides of dipping sauce for the wings, never got those, didn't even bother to ask about them because we probably wouldn't have gotten them anyways.

It wasn't even a busy night, the restaurant was probably 30% full.

It's a shame because the food was good, and the beer selection...
