Ida's use to be great with real flavor. Over the years you can tell quality has suffered in the name of growth. My last few orders have been stale, flavorless and obviously the cake was at one time frozen. I understand growth and things change but what really inspired the review was the horrible service received at the westside location yesterday. Stopped in after work to pick up 1/2 dozen cupcakes. The place was dead, the worker got up from the table they were at clearly annoyed at my disruption of her magazine reading. When she got to the counter, I was reviewing the menu and just needed a minute. Her response, "Its not that difficult pick a cupcake, pick a frosting". Wow, I have been in the door for less than 1 minute...just need a second. So I rush my order, I mention they are for a birthday and can I get sprinkles. Order complete, no sprinkles when I remind her well you can imagine how that went. All said love to support local but time for you to get...
Read moreI love Ida’s cupcakes. I usually get cupcakes for every birthday party for all my girls from the Redmond location. I was at work today on the westside of Bend and figured I’d try the Gavelston location for ease. I called on my lunch break, at 11:50 and they told me not a problem for the cupcakes I described as it would only take 10 minutes (half dozen for bday morning) awesome I said I get off of work at 5, does after that work? And b. They close at 5. They kept insisting I called the wrong location to which I gladly whipped out my phone, told them the number I called, and confirmed that was, in fact, the right location. Last time I ever order here or refer people. Super disappointing. Usually they’re amazing and the first bakery I refer. Im not sure if it’s summer...
Read moreThis is hands down my favorite cupcake place. As I used to live in Bend, this was a place I discovered after my boss was getting married and was catering in cupcakes from this place instead of a traditional wedding cake.
I was the taste tester.
I can faithfully say that I was hooked the minute I tried the buttercream frosting on the red velvet cupcake (pictured).😍🥰 My absolute favorite.
For those that are Chocolate fans, grab the chocolate bottom and buttercream top (pictured).
I’ve tried their vanilla bottom and lemon top along with the carrot cake and buttercream and still amazing.
I do recommend getting the “kid cakes” aka regular sized cupcakes over the “gourmet” ones as they are easier to eat and make more sense for traveling. The gourmet cakes I think are good for those wanting more base and less frosting or for special events that you want them to stand out a bit more.
Service can vary depending on who you get but overall...
