I went with a group of friends to play trivia on Thursday, we’ve all heard really great things about their trivia and wanted to try it out. Walked in and was greeted by a woman asking us the basics “how many for dinner?” I explained 3 for dinner and two more would be joining us for drinks and trivia. We sat down and she came back over quickly to ask us what we wanted to drink. One of us ordered but two of us still needed time with the menu due to allergies, but would love some water. She rolled her eyes rushed away and made no effort to acknowledge we asked for water. Then she came back again before bringing back the beer that was ordered and pressed us for drinks again, pressured into ordering we picked quick but had some questions about the menu. We wanted to know her opinion on a couple of entrees, asking which she would choose if she was picking one. She blatantly ignored the questions, assumed we were just ordering those items wrote them down rolled her eyes again and walked away. We were given 1 set of silverware to share between the 3 of us for a soup, cabbage rolls, kabasi sandwich and one other appetizer. She would drop things on the table and rush away so we couldn’t ask for anything else. If we weren’t ordering another drink or if we wanted water she’d huff and walk away. It was extremely poor service. Pretty disheartening because we had a great time playing trivia but probably won’t be going back. By the end of the night she had rolled her eyes at us so much we lost count. I understand working in service, my friends and I have done it for over 10 years. Trivia nights can be busy, we’re a bunch of 30-45 professionals trying to have a relaxing evening. But her attitude towards us was unacceptable. We even watched her snap at a man whose group canceled on him the last minute.
I do want to say, every other staff member (i.e. bartender or bar back) working during trivia that brought us a drink or a meal was extremely friendly, polite, and genuinely seemed happy...
Read moreMy family and I truly used to enjoy coming here and honestly I forgot to ever do a 5 star review. Today my outlook on Prost brought me here to make note to the owner about how their staff should need some customer service training or retraining. I came up today and was showed up not thinking to check the times for opening (got excited for a good beer and food). I was going in for a late lunch/early dinner and didn’t see times on the door. Seemed quiet but lately my fellow restaurant small business owners (small business owner myself) have noted a significant drop in business and thought I would support my local business. The door was locked and a staff member inside told me go around and when I opened the door they were mopping which I guess I may arrived early, to my surprise when I guess I confusingly asked if they were still closed they said “isn’t it obvious were mopping?” I could understand having a long day and being frustrated but snapping at your customers, especially if you made a mistake of showing up early doesn’t show a very good image for your establishment. I explained to them that I guess my apologies and it was 30 minutes before open, and I was basically given the reprimand for even asking if they were even open. This is an extremely disappointing experience and honestly, I’m pretty confused since I’ve had great experiences with staff on a very consistent basis and after not being there for a few months and killing the excitement, definitely is a good way to guarantee lower sales. Hope the owner can see this and understand that employees are not necessarily the final nail in the coffin, but definitely a...
Read moreI was born and raised in Central Oregon. But I used to go up to Portland a lot (first with my parents when I was a child and then later as an adult) to visit friends. We ate at Der Rheinlander. The food was out of this world. I always looked forward to it. I was beyond sad when it sold in 2016 and closed not long after that. Then I started going to a couple other German restaurants up there. But they were just not the same. Some were even horrible. I thought that was the end of going out for good German food.
Then I stumbled across Prost! RIGHT IN MY OWN BACKYARD! I said to myself "If they serve Jägerschnitzel. I am all over it. I know what good Jägerschnitzel tastes like" Its always been my go too. OMG! It was sooooooooooo good that I literally sat there and looked at the last bite for several minutes before I finally ate it. I did not want it to be over with. I felt like I was back at Der Rheinlander all over again. And actual I hate to admit it, I never thought I was ever hear myself saying this, but this was BETTER than Der Rheinlander.
I brought my cousin with me. She had never had German food before and she also has a small appetite. But I know what her tastes in food are. I pointed out a couple suggestions for her on the menu. She chose Kohlrouladen and a Bretzel. And we each had Paulaner Oktoberfest beer. She has not stopped talking about how good everything was. As a matter of fact the first words out of her mouth when I saw her this morning was "I can't stop thinking about that FOOD last night!" To which I replied "That makes TWO of us!"
We will be back...over and over and over! Keep up the...
