Whappos® — Restaurant in Bend

I really wanted to love this place when we went out to visit Commonwealth Pub which just opened. We ordered 9-piece wings, three different types of tacos (beef, pork, and curry chicken) and the lamb burger.

Unfortunately, with the exception of the actual lamb patty, the food was completely unexceptional and generally poor quality. The lamb patty was nicely prepared and well seasoned. The bun was apparently flattened in transit, and the burger had a bunch of other stuff on it, including some sort of uber-hard but unflavored crispy disc (might have been super fried cheese) thing that added nothing in terms of flavor, but some intrigue when I would take a bite (was not expecting a super hard disc thingy in the middle of my juicy medium rare lamb burger. I literally don't know what it was.

In summary, simply under-seasoned, low quality food truck food. Ooof. I guess the fries were cooked well and served hot. The wings had no sauce on them. The tacos, and I don't say this lightly, were simply not good. Slathered in uninspired green guacamole (I think that's what it was) and under-seasoned and lacking real flavor, I just didn't understand.

While I would go back to Commonwealth Pub, I would not eat at the food truck again unless they step up their game.

I'd recommend simplifying the menu and only making dishes on which they can really do an exceptional job. Bend is too much of a foodie food town and there are lots of exceptional food trucks to visit.

If they don't step up their game and really bring some well executed, properly prepared food with some specialness to each dish, I don't think they'll make it as a business which is a bummer.

Just tried this spot for the first time and it's excellent!

Ordered both the Cuban Sandwich and the Jerk Chicken Bowl as I could not decide and both were great.

The Jerk Chicken is outstanding, succulent, full of flavor and a healthy dose of spice. The Fried Plantains were good and the Cuban Sandwich was as good as i've had anywhere else, if not better.

For a new food truck to be turning out such good food without a long wait is impressive, will be...

I loved loved LOVED this amazing menu! Whappos catered my husbands 40th birthday party little and the food was the hit of the whole event! It was also a marine corp reunion and the attention to detail Mr David Smith gave our family while planning such a huge event made the whole process so smooth!
